Hello everyone. I just wanted to say I had not heard of GOG until recently, but was absolutely blown away when I heard there was a storefront comparable to Steam (price wise) and that they were going to release a DRM-free client at some point.

So the short of it, I was PLANNING on having GOG Galaxy as a complement to Steam for whatever games weren't Steam-exclusive, but after this absolutely asinine paid mods nonsense I jumped 100% on board with GOG.

Completely uninstalled Steam with no remorse. I'm planning on slowly rebuilding parts of my library on GOG over time. Already saw a few great classics I want to pick up like Psychonauts, Legacy of Kain, etc. Might get Witcher III too.

Basically after seeing how low Valve could stoop I basically just wanted to say, thank you for existing at this moment. Hopefully this is a cool community and I plan on convincing as many people as I can to, at the very least, look over GOG and weigh their options.

Cheers!

Welcome :D

I hope you've come to stay, especially with this awesome community, even if you some day decide to reinstall steam and replay something from your library. Just make sure you don't give them any more money :D This is about more than just buying stuff.

First things first, welcome!

But, I wouldn't recommend the whole hype train thing. Sure, GOG is probably the best store around, but going full fanboy over it will only leave you disappointed. In the end, it's still a store and they're out for profit, don't push values on them as they will throw them out when they are no longer useful to them. Judge fairly and jump ship when you find something better. Good thing is, even if you do, you can take your DRM-free installers with you.

Welcome to GOG!

You will surely not regret to buy your games here, especially considering that you can always back them up with no restrictions, being never tied to anything.
I can assure you that the community ia -almost- always a very firendly place, and I'm pretty sure you will like it too, if you decide to participate.
Also... as long as I haunt the place, things couldn't be cooler! ;P

Welcome to GOG, Austin_4e.
It always intrigues me when people completely overreact, it's a nice thing to observe.

Not meaning the OP, just the whole matter in general. And welcome to GOG, hope you'll like it here.

Still better than giving Valve or Bethesda any more profit after that BS that they pulled.

On a plus side, this place seems like a promising alternative for my future purchases.
