Since GOG likes to hold Insomnia sales and Mystery Game sales (or whatever it gets called at the time),
I would like to suggest / ask for games from the "Games in Development" category to be specifically excluded from these types of sales.

With the Insomnia Sales (at least from my understanding), as the games only advance / change once the stock for the current game is exhausted, some people might be genuinely pissed off by the fact of having unfinished games included in said list might have very negative effects on the overall progress of said sale (While I wasn't personally there, people still like to bring up the Jack Keane debacle, where the sale wouldn't advance because the game was largely rejected and just wouldn't sell)

As for Mystery Games, while some people like to gamble, the fact that there "might" be unfinished games in the lot, unbeknown to the anyone besides GOG, could potentially annoy even more people, along with decreasing the overall willingness to take that risk to begin with and put some off them off completely (as it'd be a double gamble, one for the game you get, one for the chance of it ever finishing).

And while I personally don't mind these games being included in / going on sale along others (or being here in general, as long as they don't hurt the addition of finished games, old and new, DRM-Free), with both these specific types of sales they'd more likely than not be very unwelcomed, as to a lot of people it would feel like GiD Games were literally hamfisted down their throat, especially when some people already voiced concern / made clear their unwillingness to buy them.

Hope it will be possibl to get some clarification on this subject, both as there has been no mention of it being made in the News Topic, and as I'm not even completely sure GOG Staff has completely considered the possible future effects of its inclusion on these specific sale types yet...

And somewhat off-topic: Would also be nice to have a Filter Option for GiD Games or otherwise games on does NOT want (working along with the wishlist and acting as a hide option for not purchased games, but that's more of a suggestion for the future...)
This question / problem has been solved by ZFRimage
These sales already exclude stuff like DLC, Deluxe Edition updates... etc, so I suppose excluding InDevs shouldn't be a problem either.
I fully agree with you Habanerose ;)
And I’m part of the crowd that see In Dev games coming to GOG as genuine good news.

Hopefully GOG will also exclude GiD Games from those sales in the future as well then.

Seen as they are already a quite controversial addition to some people, it might quite possibly cause a real negative backlash if GOG were to end up pushing them too hard / in the wrong ways...

So let's hope for the best here.

Filer / Hide GiD Games along with other unwanted games

Exclude GiD Games from future Insomnia and Mystery Game Sales

There is a 14-days, no-questions-asked refund policy for Games in Development. Doesn't that make this kind of a non-issue?

You get a GiD in a mystery deal, but you don't want GiDs, you get a refund. I don't really see how this is different from gambling with finished games and getting something that you'd never want to play. Apart from the fact that with a GiD all risk is eliminated because you can return it with no ifs and buts...
GID games should be excluded from any sales till they're released imo.

I'm just not sure if this would still apply to the Mystery Sales, as while I can see GOG making small exceptions when people return games on those, but with GiD this opens up a whole different can of worms. As there seems to be much more opposition to these in particular than with quote "Finished Games".

And while in both cases you have the risk of getting games you didn't want, in these specific cases there might be much more of a suddenly increased number of refund requests, along with a possible decrease of people willing to gamble in the first place. Especially if GOG isn't very upfront about it (basically requiring them to state beforehand if GiDs will be included), it might cause quite the negative backlash.

And while the 14 Days Refund Policy is nice, it's just doesn't cover the eventuality of risk of abandonment of the game (and frankly, I can't fault GOG for that, as it would basically be near impossible to enforce, assuming even the more "well intentioned" devs would still want to sign up to it then, when Steam basically allows them to do as they please with no legal obligation / responsability).

And while most people might become more lenient with the idea of GiD overtime (or just don't bother / care), having it done in a hamfisted way can have much of an adverse effect. And seen as Steam kinda poisoned the EA well for a long time, people might view the ongoing "Steam-ification" of GOG as very negative (all in all, it's one of the most common factor for people buying here, they hate / dislike Steam and want something better / different)... just my 2 cents on this, though.

You make it sound like GiD/Early Access games wouldn't sell as part of an "Insomnia" sale or similar promo, but in case you haven't noticed, all of the GiD titles available so far are listed among the popular releases -- in other words, they seem to sell very well. I've participated in a few of the "Insomnia" style sales now, and usually games with high prices tend to stall the sale, regardless of their quality. ( That was likely also the main reason why Jack Keane 2 didn't sell well, since it was iirc the second most expensive game in that sale. ) People are more likely to make spontaneous purchases if a game is cheap.

And as for pinatas or similar surprises, they're a gamble and there's always a risk you'll end up with something you don't really want. If you receive a copy of an unfinished game with the potential to be really good, that's really no worse than a copy of a finished but bad game.

If they're going to introduce filtering systems to the site, they might as well include all genres, since everyone has types of games they don't like for whatever reasons. ( And even then, I doubt they would affect surprise sales. So if you don't like the risk, just don't participate in those. )
This situation hadn't occurred to my after reading the Early Access announcement, thank you for broaching this subject. I would never purchase an unfinished game. I won't be making any future Piñata or Mystery purchases, I don't want to have to go through the hassle of requesting a refund for an unfinished game that was unknowingly purchased.
The funny thing is I might give some of these a shot if they were just $3. So if I got them in a Pinata or Mystery Box, I'm probably cheering...

As to Jack Keene 2:
1) It went on sale in the middle of the night U.S. and as Europe was going to sleep.
2) It's a relatively high priced game.
3) The discount was not 75% or 80%.
4) It had as many copies as many of the other games.

It was a perfect storm of waiting...and doesn't necessarily reflect totally on its quality.

Errr... last time I checked, the Earth rotated the other way round. :P

Ok, maybe before they get up. Regardless, it was the peak of non-activity on the forums. During Double Insomnia, during roughly the same hours on the weekend we had an offer go almost 9 hours...
