I have been looking all over the interwebz for a legal way to get the game Vietcong, and so far, I'm out of luck. I am wondering if there are other Vietcong fans out there who would like to see games like Vietcong here.

I always got stuck on one mission in the expansion. I think it was stealth and the enemies had laser detection (it was just over the top).
You might be able to find a used copy from Amazon or Ebay or something similar.

I had to use a mod fix to be able to play it on Win 7 64bit... don't have that link anymore,
but will try to find.

It is such a great, well designed game, good storyline and action. Although the expansion was
not very good, compared to the main campaign. it did give you some added weapons and maps
to play in the skirmish modes of the game. The coop is (was) a lot of fun too, back in the day.

There is no other game set in the Vietnam war that comes close to the experience created
in Vietcong. Even Vietcong 2 didn't meet the expectations or the quality of the first game's campaign.

Edit... As far as it coming to GoG, that all depends on who owns the rights to it.

You can vote for it here... http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/vietcong

For anyone interested here's a pretty decent review for the game:

Wikipedia makes it look like it's owned by Take 2, so it might show up if/when they appear here.

Over all, I can agree with the reviewer, the graphics are a bit lacking, the voice acting leaves a bit to be desired and the storyline is simple (just experiencing what it was like to be there), but getting killed a lot is not necessarily inevitable, you just can't go running and gunning like CoD style. If you rely on your point man you will avoid the traps and get the jump on the enemy, as he will usually let you know if they are near.

The enemy AI is good too, as sometimes they will stay quiet and wait to ambush you.

And of course your squad is going to be moving slow through the jungle, it's dangerous out there. :P

There is a lot of attention to details, like little changes to your bunker at the fire base between missions,
and finding things like personal and military items when looting enemy for ammo and weapons.

Interesting, thank you for the additional info. ;)
I'm not even american but sounds weird. =)

I would like to john Rambo to get rid off finnish political assholes.. Which are all of them.

That is a joke of course trademark I cannot be held responsible about stuff.

It's the same that publishers use when releasing bad ports in PC.

Edit: Infact bad games get good ports and vice versa. It's insanity. Like that ultima dude would say and i would say too. It's ultima-armageddon.

A part that I really like about the game was the music. It made you feel like you were in the vietnam war. Great stuff. Also, am I the only one who kinda like Vietcong 2? It were not close to be so good as the first one, but it had it moments.
The demo to this game was fantastic and the game itself I hope to also be good. I've been wanting these games on here too and don't really know how likely it is we'll get them. We probably won't, but here's hoping.
