A while back I sent Corey Cole an email, wondering if they had any interest in doing a new QFG game, possibly via kickstarter. I kindly received a response: Hi, sorry I’m so late replying. My “Handle Soon” folder has not lived up to its name for the last few months. Lori and I are definitely interested in doing another game. First we need to find some time and fully commit to a project. She is currently focusing on photography (little accidental pun there). I’m studying some online classes to bring my programming skills up to date. I also do a lot of gaming. I need to go through a bit of a mindset change to get back to the harrowing effort of game development. Look for something (such as a Kickstarter campaign) perhaps six months from now, maybe a little sooner. We aren’t quite ready yet, but we’ve had a lot of requests.

And its here:

If you don't back it some* people might call you a bad person.

* that would be me :)

I had this same idea a few months back, but I didn't actually e-mail them to ask about it. Glad you did so.

In the meantime I guess we can look forward to Mage's Initiation: Reign of the Elements, from the guys who brought us the Quest for Glory 2 VGA Remake:

Glad it's not going to happen soon. A sequel is definitely something I want to back, and right now I am completely broke.

There was a QFG 2 remake? Nice.

I thought by now everyone already knows that?

Thanks man. I have *no* idea how I actually missed this. I rarely let these things slip past my radar.

wow, hadn't heard of Mage's Initiation. Looks cool.
After they developed the QfG 2 VGA Remake, the developers posted a thread asking what kind of games should be developed next, and IIRC most forum visitors wanted a QfG-like game, and hence Mage's Initiation was born. For those who do not know it yet, Himalaya Studios consists of the same guys in AGD Interactive.

So why rebrand themselves? It's not like they were an official game studio to begin with.

They didn't. Himalaya Studios and AGD Interactive are two separate entities. It's just that they consist of (probably mostly) same people. Himalaya Studios sells commercial games. While AGD Interactive produces officially-sanctioned free remakes. You can probably say that AGD Interactive was/is their training ground before they start(ed) working on commercial games.

I see. That actual makes sense then.
Awesome, I hope he can commit to it.
If the Coles decide to do a QfG Kickstarter, I hope they will create new characters instead of continuing with Devon Aidendale's story. I don't know, I think the ending of QfG5 is already perfect for Devon, and would rather start a new QfG game with a new character, one that is as "novice" as Devon prior to QfG1.
Thank you for doing this, and I'm glad they're interested in making another game.

I tend to agree that the hero's story is told except for maybe a prequel. What the hero did prior to SYWTBAH has been hinted about in some of the games, and it's referenced in the strategy guide (although the Coles don't consider that cannon). So revisiting the hero one more time would be worth a chunk of change from me.

Although, I've been waiting for this since 1998 and I've had time to think about it.
