But if you're in the US you can use Bing Rewards to get some cheap $5 windows store gift cards, then catch it during one of their sales. Free is free. :P
Can't say that I seen that coming, and while I'm not against UWP as some people... this is very good news. I bet this ends up on GOG too after Steam get's most of it's sales.

how does bing rewards work? you get $5 right away?

True, however I'd rather take the restrictions of UWP+win Store over the restrictions placed on me by VALVe.

But in the case of Rise of the Tomb Raider I'd like to have known about the restrictions of UWP BEFORE buying.
Would be nice to see Killer Instinct follow the same route. Though I highly doubt it.

It's like $5 a month but comes to $100 a year. It's faster and more than that for Microsoft cards though.

You sign up for Rewards with a MS account (can use your gmail/yahoo/aol/whatever) and search on your desktop and mobile until you hit the daily points caps. It takes all of a couple of minutes a day. You have options for your rewards like if you prefer Amazon cash or Starbucks.

What are some of Steam's restrictions make it worse than UWP restrictions to you?

Not being able to mod or have community fixes seems pretty huge to me, not to mention overlays/interoperability. Even if GOG Galaxy gets 'add non-Galaxy' game eventually, you won't be able to use it's overlay for instance.

Just the same grudge I've had for 6+ years. Concurrent use of different licenses on different machines is forbidden (and still is by default) by VALVe, where as WIN STORE allows a single license to be used concurrently on 10 machines.

I've not yet tried it transferring ownership, but WIN STORE's usage policy is not subscription based.

No prob. I got the Killer Instinct content that way. I didn't know they were going to have a sale though so I was able to pick up Gears of War + a couple of smaller items too for my $60. Totally worth it. :>
I wonder if it will still require a constant internet connection just because you are forced to stream the FMVs from their website, instead of just downloading them.

You probably have to agree to use bing for a month and let them collect your searching habits...
