Oh darn, nevermind, my nephew just found one!!!!

Could a mod delete this thread????

So sorry, we both looked and looked and thought there was no way but damned if he didn't find a retail version available.

This question / problem has been solved by IanMimage
It's available until shop stocks run out, so pretty much it's a case of grab it while you can, avoiding the gougers if possible.

btw MS will re activate an OEM edition once for one mobo change, particularly if it's like for like or similar to replace a dead board

Also, Windows 10 might actually be OK, but we'll have to wait for final release to know for sure. Certainly the chatter about it is way more positive than 8/8.1

Well, it was a false alarm, a scam, the reviews said when you got the disc and tried to activate it, it was an OEM version good for only 1 motherboard, not the retail version.

I don't feel like reposting the question again so seriously if a mod comes by and sees this please delete it.

Sorry for all of the confusion, but he excitedly said he found one, and to be fair, it did SAY it was the retail version, but the reviewers let everyone know it wasn't. Don't know why an Amazon seller would be allowed to advertise in such a way, as this particular site he found it on turns out to be an Amazon seller.
if you're giving up fair enough, but it seems like there are still plenty of copies floating about, and you can get used copies...
Spanish website, but you got it here, both x32 and x64 pro and home premium editions. So, it's not hard to find, at least for OEM.
NEVERTHELESS, you could try and investigate if you can reactivate your genuine OEM license or even use something like an activator (I recall it existing, but cannot remember the name, sorry), which saved the activation registry keys, files and whatever, so you could reactivate again but with your legal key.

Edit: Well, your edit says it all xD

No, not giving up, just didn't want to repost the long original post again. I'm gonna keep looking though, as is my nephew.

check on eBay, there are quite a few available and I'm sure the reputable sellers are kept honest by eBays draconian policies...
Found a couple on EBay, but man I don't trust EBay, just can't do it. Found another misleading one at Walmart dot com, of all places, as it's price is higher than most OEM versions and doesn't say anything about OEM yet the reviews say it's an OEM version.

I should've just purchased a couple of retail licenses when it first came out I guess. Live and learn.

Have now ruled out pretty much all the names you would think of though, so it's not looking good. Going to either have to purchase yet another OEM license or try a phone registration with the existing one, which doesn't sit well with me since I know that technically I'm violating the license. So I will likely spend another $100 on software I've now purchased at least three times.

If you're considering buying a physical copy so have a thorough read through of eBay's buyer protection policy to make sure you will be covered in the event something is amiss (digital distribution isn't protected in the same way as physical.)

It's so surprising it's this hard to find. I guess USA market has rather fewer remaining copies compared to the EU market.
See, looking at this just sets off alarm bells to me. It's cheaper than an OEM version.

Can you make any kind of judgment call based on a screenshot?

You can get OEM versions of Professional editions for 30 pounds sterling (44 USD) on ebay.co.uk.
