Exsurgent: possibly with some immersive sim elements
avatar
AlexTerranova: According to the game description and taking into account developers background, immersive sim is the main genre of this game. ;)
Oh, don't get me wrong, I definitely hope it's a proper immersive sim. But I guess we'll actually have to play Weird West to determine if the game's store description holds true and isn't just using the term as a marketing buzzword, knowing people will expect a game like that from these devs. That's why I'm still hoping to get a demo at some point.

Ixamyakxim: Do these devs have anything to do with the Hard West crew?

The game looks *extremely* similar in visual style, gameplay and even down to having multiple story arcs featuring different characters.

Not that that's a bad thing (Hard West was a ton of fun, and I liked that each campaign had this weird overarching mechanic that altered how you'd play and what your goal was).
Don't think so. There's another team working on an actual Hard West 2.
Road to Weird West - Episode 3: Combat, Stealth, and Abilities

Combat is looking too arcade to my taste. Hopefully, it can be avoided in most cases in favour of other gameplay options.

Love Western games, but...

... just not feeling this one.

Would have more interest in turn-based Hard West 2.
Is there a reason why it's no longer possible to pre-order Weird West?

Damm, I hope it's not a delay.
Was about to get it today. There are a few reviews out and the game looks like fun.

Yeah, unfortunately it looks like another case of delayed game release, I see no other reason to stop pre-orders early.

For what it's worth, the option to pre oder the game on Steam is still up. Might be an issue on gogs side. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.

Edit: The game shouldn't be delayed, it reached gold status.

gogdb states that the pre-order property was changed to false on March 28th

Could a blue clarify if this was an erroror not?

Yes, I meant a delayed release only for the GOG version, as has already happened with other games: Shadow Warrior 3 Deluxe Edition, Partisans 1941, Ancestors Legacy, etc.
And yes, it would be nice if they clarified the situation, but in any case we'll find out tomorrow.

Ah, got it. :)
Nvm, why even bother

Fine by me, what's another couple weeks when by now you're used to waiting years anyway.
Got a few playthroughs to still finish up, so the delay is a plus in this regard too.

Nice gesture chucking in a redeemable code for Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive & Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge, as well as getting the Weird West soundtrack for free, if you keep the base game in the library.
