Hm, looks interesting.

JMich: Hm, looks interesting.
Yeah, sort of. But pre-order exclusive means I'm no longer interested.

I am known to be blind, so what is the exclusive you speak of?

From the gamecard "Shadowhand Set – unique Shadowhand armor (hood, jacket, gloves and trousers) with great statistics, available only if you pre-order a game. It won’t slow you down as much as other armor sets in the same class."

I know it's not much but it's the fact that matters. Pre-order exclusives are dealbreakers for me

Hm, interesting, the Digital Collector's Edition also mentions the Shadowhand Set, so I thought it would be available for purchase later as well. Unless the Digital Collector's Edition is no longer available once the game is released.

@GOG can we have a clarification about the Shadowhand Set?

Um... Do you mean you won't pre-order because you'll get something extra with it, or that you won't buy the game at all because people who pre-order get something you can't get? Both of those positions seem odd to me.
If I got it correctly, the "Shadowhand Set" is an exclusive DLC for the collector edition but is included in the standard one for those who pre-order.

This is based on the description of both products as the disclaimer about limited availability is only present for the standard edition.

Anyway, a post from GOG would be good to confirm (or not) this.

I believe offering something extra as a bait to get more preorders is unfair. Given how many games I own I can skip any number of new ones and I won't feel sorry so I see no reason to give my money to people who do something which for me is fishy. I'm not claiming that my stance should be considered as an universal truth. It may be odd, weird or even completely wrong. I don't care. And as always - I wish all the best fun for those who decide to buy the game and play it.

No more odd than offering something that has effect on in-game experience that people who come late can't get their hands on. It's not complete dealbreaker for me, but leaves bad taste, regardless if I was around to make use of such offer.

Game itself looks interesting.

It says "blah blah preorder contains...". If it's bullshit-exclusive, presumably the gamecard would be replaced with one without this DLC. That's what usually happens, although a clarification might be nice because it might actually bring welcome news / cause the publisher to reconsider (but I doubt that).

"I'm interested in the game itself, but the publisher is a fuck sausage. Therefore, my enjoyment of the game, if I bought it right now, would be diminished by the fact I'd have got played. I will either not buy it at all or get a crippled product later for 85% off."

It's not about enjoyment, but about not supporting shitty practices in games and those who perpetuate them. I'm not going to give my money to an animal shelter that allows or supports unregulated animal testing for medical procedures or treatments. I'm not going to give money to a publisher who does things I don't agree with. While Ghorpm's threshold is different from my own, I totally get his position.
EXPLORE A VIBRANT OPEN WORLD FROM AN ISOMETRIC PERSPECTIVE
Please GOG, make it stop. If a developer sends you a description for a game which uses "isometric", and it's not, please just ask them to change it to "overhead" or "third person" or something which isn't blatantly wrong.

You're the home of good old games; surely you have an appreciation for the days when isometric games were common, and the fact that the term simply doesn't apply to modern 3D games at all.

I'm sure you wouldn't label this game a side-scrolling platformer, or a point-and-click-adventure, so why use other terms that are equally untrue?

I might be interested, but the exclusive pre-order is a no-go. If at least it would be available later, I could live with that. But I hate having incomplete games and I'm sure as hell not going to pre-order something that I know nothing about.

Swapper is labeled as "platformer" and trust me - it's not. The game is 2D with a side view, there are some platforms that you can jump but the game is definitely not a platformer. It's all about puzzles, there is no intense jumping sections nor high precision jumps. But the label is still there ;)
