Wasn't built in a day.

Imperator: Rome is now available for pre-order DRM-free. Pre-order to receive the Epirus Flavor Pack as a bonus. It contains unique cosmetic items, 6 event chains and a new music track.

With the death of Alexander the Great, his four successors are squabbling over his once sprawling empire. Make your own legacy as you navigate the politics, enforce your rule, or exploit the trade routes of a land in turmoil. Will you go with democracy or monarchy? Quash a rebellion or try to avoid it? Keep your citizens happy or subdued? History is waiting your move. Make it grand.

Grab the Deluxe Edition for the Art book, wallpapers, and the Hellenistic Flavor Pack.
Preorder exclusives? Bwahahaha.....no thanks. Not buying this even if it goes on a 99% discount.

I'll give my money to whom doesn't do that crap.

Morpheeus123: Hi, I've actually read the EULA from this game, which was at the end of this gamesite and there were two things I didn't get.

1. "3.Prohibited use
Unless otherwise provided in this EULA, you shall not

iii)Remove, disable or circumvent any security protections such as digital rightsmanagement, proprietary notices or labels contained on or within the Game; "

What does this mean? Has this game a DRM?

2.."13.Update of these terms We may amend this EULA from time to time by posting a prominent notice on our web site. Your continued use of the Game after changes are posted means you agree to be legally bound by theEULA as updated and amended."

So basicly, they can change everything about the game I am buying, of course acording to the swedish law?
That's more or less what every EULA of a major release (publisher) says about any game.
It's to cover their butts.

wocabec: I know Italian localization is not much profitable, but this is a game about the Roman Empire.
You made every languages avoiding carefully Italian. C'mon!
I noticed that lately this is the case in many modern games. In 90s Italian was one of the big five in Europe, as I recall (EN, SP, FR, IT, GE), but nowadays it seems everybody calculates with number of speakers (primary and secondary), political and economical influence, and in games industry it depends also on technology used in population and the number of sales. I myself prefer Italian to other Romance languages and I also think playing a game about Rome in Italian would be great, but we all know how Paradox likes the sales and money (I wonder how many DLCs this one will have), so... maybe in the future, with the second wave of languages (Polish, Portuguese, Japanese...).
Fuck naysayers! This is awesome!

I like the option to preorder this game, those who don't have impossible expectation can own the copy in the library from today.

Sure but um, Paradox have not uploaded the game to GOG's servers yet though so i don't really call that "own" in my library.

I stand corrected. I only think there's nothing wrong with preorders.
Awesome! More Paradox games on GOG is welcome. And this one on Day 1. Very good job!

Now I just wish Victoria II and EU4 would come as well.

Also, I do not see achievement support for it on GOG? Does Paradox not plan to implement them in DRM free version?

I'm surprised Vicky II hasn't been added yet. That said, I've been following Imperator: Rome fairly closely, so releasing it on GOG on day 1 makes this an easy buy for me.

EDIT: I totally forgot to mention day 1 Linux support as well! Delightful! Hopefully there is a deluxe edition upgrade. I'd really like that Hellenistic flavour pack, but can't splurge for it right now.

I'm overjoyed to see a Paradox Day1 here.

I'm still really pissed that Cities: Skylines isn't here, after being bundled-to-valueless.

Well, people who pre-order and use pre-order incentives are making it worse for us "normal" buyers because publishers obviously want their money as early as possible and as such sometimes balance their game (economy) around it. This can range from free DLC which may or may not have been in the game otherwise to some physical rewards to things which give the players unfair advantages in multiplayer (but also singleplayer). Ideally, pre-orders would have no benefits at all but this is of course rather pointless in a digital world so second-best would be something like 5% off of the price, no strings attached.

I do take issue with games with pre-order bonuses that have a detrimental effect on game balance, but in this case the DLC is purely for aesthetics. I don't see a problem with this as long as the DLC is made available to later buyers at some point.

That's not preorder problem. It's balancing problem.
I agree 5% off would be much better.
Looks good, too good. In fact, I think I'll stay away lest I find myself in a couple weeks long timesink by the looks of it :P
Pleasently surprised this will be released on GOG! When Imperator was announced I was really hyped. After following the development diaries I am not so sure about gameplay mechanics... But it's definitely a game to keep under the radar.

What can't be denied is that the map (and all the game, in general) looks stunningly beautiful.
Oh, yeah. Go Paradox. Will definitely be getting this.

Now CK2 Super Duper all Included Edition next :)
