Lodium: But steam does the same thing sometimes
Not the same way of course but very simmilar
There are cases where you can confuse a preorder deal on steam in a simmilar fashion you just discribed here
I dont get the idea that people think steam is a saint in all they do regardless.
1.If anything then STEAM is more likely to get ACTUAL such amazing deal
2.I DID NOT say that Steam is saint. Please do not try to put words in my mouth. In fact I am VERY AWARE of what Steam does wrong. Actually I am far more aware of that on technical front than any normal users and a big chunk of developers. I have seen stuff (including regularly seeing developers mistakes that are not generally seen by users) and I well know that they are not perfect. You don't have to preach to me about it. And please don't accuse me of stuff I have not said.

zeffyr: OK, thank you for your time put into this post and for trying to explain your point of view.
I don't know if I'm supposed to take it as genuine thanks or as sarcasm.

avatar
zeffyr: Yet I cannot agree with it. Like MarkoH01 pointed out, nothing in GOG's news implies that it's GOG-specific deal. Is it an exclusive deal though? Of course, there are certain benefits of pre-ordering that won't be avaiiable after game's release.
Your inability to comprehend my original post (or perhaps shameless baiting) is getting annoying.
By deal I meant the "you can get deluxe version for the price of standard" and by exclusive I meant "exclusive for GOG only" (as in promo for GOG only).

avatar
zeffyr: You seem to be angry that GOG somehow mislead you and you thought that pre-ordering on GOG would be more beneficial than pre-ordering on Steam.
And where exactly did I get angry? It's also funny how you just ASSUMED that I PERSONALLY got misled and I PERSONALLY thought that it's exclusive here. It's amusing to see you type stuff like that given the exact text I typed in my original post. Stop trolling.

avatar
zeffyr: In fact you get the very same pre-order offer on both sites for the very same price
Did it STILL not occur to you that I DID MANUALLY CHECK Steam page before making original post?
At this point you are only giving me more suggestions that you are a troll.

avatar
zeffyr: the offer on both sites is exclusive as a pre-order, it's equally beneficial and it's up to you whether you choose to have a DRM-free copy in your GOG's library or not.
Exactly. It's up to a user to decide where he wants to buy it. THAT'S WHY I put a very small short notice post to give not-yet-aware people an awarness of existence of a choice! Do you have personal issue with that?
Are you perhaps ANGRY that I DARED to mention Steam?
I have only put a small post about it and yet you got so agro that you started arguing because I DARED to mention Steam on GOG!
You act like a troll. I am sorry if you are not a troll. But honestly you sure do act like one.
Stop arguing with me. At this point I made my point clear more than it is neccesary. If you countinue baiting and spitting this nonsense I will just ignore your output.
While I probably won't pre-order, Mimime developing Desperados III makes me interested in playing this title... even though the genre isn't tops on my list.

Too bad Mimime wasn't enlisted by Kalypso for Commandos. Have a feeling they would have done Pyro proud.

I dont think anyones angry that you mention steam.
There are several people here that shop at both places
in my case the amount has gone down since i prefer drm free over Steam bound games when it comes to pc games.
And i didnt accuse you.
It just seamed like you belived steam was better from the wording in your post
You dont have to get all defensive about it.
Oh, this was not an attempt to answer for the others users quoted.

All over your posts? You choose.

All in all I don't know what I got in the end from this conversation. Rant about thing that never happened, getting nicknamed as a troll, and capital letters here and there. But hey, still a conversation. Sigh.

Anyway, Desperados 3 is coming soon, can't wait already! :-D

That's positive if it's FOR ONCE a case :P (tho votes on that post suggest otherwise :P :D)

Lodium: There are several people here that shop at both places

I do shop there and a bunch of other places (sadly I don't have a console :/ Really wish I could have Switch and PS4 :P ;)). I generally prefer drm-free although there are instances when it's more appealing for me to buy something on steam (cases such as quipled gog releases, no crossplay, technical inconveniences on gog release, lack of some content in gog release, etc) and I do have more games on steam mostly due to giveaways and bundles.

avatar
Lodium: And i didnt accuse you.
I just interpreted your wording like that. Sorry if I was wrong.

You know, I have awfully lot of stress in my life. And I'm currently at the point when I cannot take it any longer. And people recently misunderstand me A LOT and I don't know what to do about it. And it seems that when I try to explain better and save a situation then it gets even worse :/ And also I feel worse and worse everyday. And so I kind of increased rate at which I apologize to people, even needlessly. Sorry :/

Also - I am sorry but I am not perfect with english and my recently not very good state of mind is making it worse. Sometimes I fail at writing something in a way that gives no room for misunderstandings.
Once again, to you, GOMENASAI :(

You know what? Consider yourself lucky as I only respond to you because I am responding to somebody else (so I'm using this opportunity to plug to my own post to reduce possibility of posting this separately later). Otherwise I would just ignore this bait.

I guess my wording on this wasn't 100% clear. So, to explain it better I meant "it is more likely FOR STEAM to get (such amazing) ACTUAL EXCLUSIVE deal" as in if out of any platforms one would get an ACTUAL exclusive "amazing deal" then it is more likely to happen on steam (this deal was not amazing nor exclusive so I wasn't refering to this one AT ALL). That's all the explanation I am willing to give on this and if you still don't understand then I suggest you ask some language expert or something because if you try to drag this into conversation then I'm just going to completely ignore you, PERIOD.

"All other my posts"? Like in ENTIRE FORUM? /s
If you dare to criticize somebody's way of speech then at least TRY to be clear enough yourself.
Also if you are baiting at least try to be precise with it otherwise it's even more pathetic.
Where exactly IN MY ORIGINAL POST am I angry at ANYTHING? Because that's the one you responded to by suggesting that I'm angry. That's very clear by your wording "You seem to be angry that GOG somehow mislead you and you thought that pre-ordering on GOG would be more beneficial than pre-ordering on Steam.".
Nowhere in my original post (post 8) I am angry at anything.
And if you mean in responses to your posts then you seem to assume that you assumed correctly how I feel, and you assumed wrong.

avatar
zeffyr: All in all I don't know what I got in the end from this conversation. Rant about thing that never happened, getting nicknamed as a troll, and capital letters here and there. But hey, still a conversation. Sigh.
If you enjoy this kind of "conversations" then good for you, it's only unfortunate that it sucks for your baiting target and whoever else you may drag into this.

It's also pretty funny how my post 8 got downvoted for sheer fact of being purely informative ;) Never change GOG forums, never change.
And since it's almost unwritten tradition that whenever I mention downvotes people deliberately do that even more then I guess I can see that coming for one of another posts of mine in this thread (you know what? Whenever you or anybody does that I win MORALLY in an INSTANT so I don't care).
Peace.

I woudnt care much about the downvoting or upvoting in the forum
the rep doesnt really serve any purpose except your posts gets hidden if you are extremly downvoted
which is a way to combat Trolls or bots. Im not suggesting that you are one of those though.
Also if you are stressed, wich i can undderstand perfectly well under these crazy virus conditions i recomend to try to unwind.
Im not a doctor and i dont know you personally so this is just a wild shot in the dark
but perhaps some slower paced games can help you unwind somewhat
I recomend Adventure Games or something like Stardew valley
or even a movie
maybe something funny or something deep and thougthfull.
Il just list some movies i myself i thougth whas pretty good at the task to help me unwind, you migth have other tastes so takes this with a pinch of salt

Liar Liar is a 1997 American fantasy comedy film directed by Tom Shadyac, written by Paul Guay and Stephen Mazur and starring Jim Carrey

2001: A Space Odyssey is a 1968 epic science fiction film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick

Alibi.com is a 2017 French comedy film. It is directed by Philippe Lacheau.

Taxi is a 1998 French action comedy film starring Samy Naceri, Frédéric Diefenthal and Marion Cotillard, written by Luc Besson

Some relaxing music can also work pretty well, but if you have serious stress issiues where it even impacts your health i sugest seeing a professinal sooner than later.
Not meant in an offensive way of course.

Devs, will be a Linux version? I know, we can play the game with Wine but native is native.

B1tF1ghter: I just made an informative statement of the fact to bring up that it's not some "amazing gog exclusive deal" for those who might not be aware how it is in this case. That's all.
Do you also go to the Scheme forums and make them aware of this store and that consumers can effectively own their games here, unlike like 95+% of games on Scheme? That would be a more valuable service than what you've done here, in the sense that this store needs the help (and I would argue deserves the help) more than that one.
Just one mouth-watering trailer. xD

ThomNG: Stay tuned!
Hi! Any news on the Linux version on GOG? Steam already got one.

Thanks!

It’s starting to get a bit annoying not having any news about the addition of the Linux version of Desperados Ⅲ, that is already available from Steam, to GOG store. Do you have any estimate of how long we should still wait for it?

According to this post it won't happen eventually.

I’ve seen it already ;)

But I do not think "I’ve been told on Discord…" is an answer official enough to let go of my hopes of playing Desperados Ⅲ. Of course, the lack of a real answer on this front is disturbing.
