I've checked for a specific forums for "Pools of Radiance, Ruins of Myth Drannor" forum, but could not find one, so I am posting here. I'd like to find a guide which tells me which keys to use to bring up menus, such as inventory and actions, but google is no help. The guides I found have mentioned you can equip items by dragging the item on the "appropriate slot on the paper doll" but I can't find the paper doll screen. Anyone know what key to use to bring it up, or a more specific guide? Thank you.

1. GOG does not currently sell this game sadly, not yet. (though considering the technical issues this game had on release, this might be a blessing in disguise.)

2. According to a scan of the manual I found on MOCAGH, it is the I key as in I for Inventory.

https://www.mocagh.org/loadpage.php?getgame=pool2 the manual and hintguide are here too, as I assume you probably bought loose CDs with out a manual, which sucks

edit 2: replacementdocs has the manual as well: http://www.replacementdocs.com/download.php?view.748

Open the paper doll screen with the backslash (\) key. You can do so outside of combat (it will default to the leader, but you can choose any other party member by clicking on their portrait below the inventory grid). You can also share items by dragging them to those portraits.

If you do so during combat, it will only allow you to work with the PC whose turn it is; and some of your options are limited: you can't put on or take off armor, for example; nor can you switch weapons once you've cast a spell or made an attack. And of course, you can't pass any items along to another party member.

Alternately, you can access your inventory by either pressing I, or by right-clicking on the mouse. Choosing an item or weapon will equip it; look for the + to the left of the item. Choosing it again (or choosing an item that is already equipped) will cast the spell stored within. This method is cumbersome, and I don't recommend using it for anything other than applying healing salves (it's the only way to use them); but it is there.

In-game, the F1 key will bring up a list of possible commands; feel free to explore. I personally like to play with running always enabled, and die rolls on; YMMV.

Btw, I am an expert on this game, having played it through dozens of times over the last 20 years; it remains one of my favorites. So if you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

I agree, it’s sad this one is not here. In terms of the technical issues, the big one is the uninstaller removing windows, however this was removed in a later patch:
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Pool_of_Radiance:_Ruins_of_Myth_Drannor
It is a fun game, though I would only play it solo, one of the other complaints is that you have to have all characters on the one screen, which soloing gets rid of.
It’s a game which could do with a good remake or engine replacement.

My copy was bitten by the installer bug, didnt have internet at the time, and I never got internet until 2003, and by that time my interest in the game had waned. so I never got patches, I might dig it up, but I have to check several storage spaces lol.

You're absolutely correct; the complication of managing 4-6 people, especially with random initiative spread out among themselves and all the monsters, is one of the most frustrating parts of the game. I've soloed many a time, although I do also recommend duoing (either right from the start, or by picking up one of the more useful NPCs along the way).

Not gonna argue; but also not holding my breath. I wish somebody with coding skill would take interest in this, the way Seravy2 did with Master of Magic; but we all know what the chances of that happening are.

1. How did you stick with it? from what I heard the implementation of the ADND 3rd Edition rules was quite shoddy.

2. we can only hope, there are lots of games that deserve love too, and since we might have a MOM remake on the way or a sequel....

I might stick it on my list of things to look at, been wanting to do something meaty in Godot engine, maybe that. Will see if I ever have free time though.

Really, what I enjoyed was the challenge of optimizing my soloist, playing through, and then discovering more tweaks or better equipment. By the time I was done, I'd found a build that was so much stronger than the final boss, it was absolutely ludicrous: higher AC, higher spell resistance and saving throws, more attacks, more damage per attack, and almost as many HP. (The secret is multiclassing at specific levels, to unlock certain skills and pick up specific feats.)

With that done, I wondered if I could do the same thing with optimizing a duo. I found pretty good builds working with Corran, Faeril, and Eadred; decent ones with Emmeric, Jarial, Bronwyn, and Kellan. (I even tried taking Bronwyn and Kellan together once; big mistake.)

Fun fact and minor spoiler: if you don't accept Emmeric or Jarial into your party until after you've escaped the first dungeon, when they do join you they're at level 8 (same as Eadred) instead of level 5 or 3.

Right now I'm doing a run with two of my own PCs: one using my optimized soloist build, and the other one as their sidekic— uhh, I mean Hero Support. (Sky High reference, anyone?)

If you do, you'll be my hero. I'll name my first playthrough after you.

Yeah, that's because of two reasons:

1) as others have already said - "PoR: Ruins of Myth Drannor" isn't here yet,

and

2) because GOG named the subforum for these games "the Forgotten Realms Collection".
So, you can't find these games under their actual names, but only under:

https://www.gog.com/forum/forgotten_realms_collection#1593381287
respectively under:

The backslash (\) character worked, thanks TwoHandedSword. I tried using the 'I' key, but rings and amulets did not appear. I guess I will have to equip items before battle. There are a lot of positive comments on the game, but I remember someone on another website calling it a "boring dungeon crawl". From the little I've played, it seems interesting. As to anyone looking for the game, it can be found on Abandonware.

How do I mark this as solved?

To be fair, unless you're replaying it with the intent to optimize the way I do, it does have very little replay value. But it's still worth one full runthrough, IMO.

One more protip: there's a glitch in the way HPs are applied at level-up, based on bonuses and penalties to your CN score. Basically, someone forgot a minus sign, so it's the opposite of what you'd expect.

To avoid being nerfed, make sure your PCs aren't wearing anything that gives a CN bonus when they're leveling up. OTOH, you can also exploit this glitch by wearing/carrying as much as you can find of things that give a CN penalty; when you take those items off, it'll be like Piccolo removing his weighted clothes in DBZ.

Hover your mouse over the post, and you should see an option to "Mark as Solution". Click that.

I've also found right clicking the mouse brings up the character sheet. Thanks for the advice. I meant to ask, does the disrupt undead cantrip ever work? I've tried it quite a few times and it had no results.

So, it's better to have lower Constitution than higher for this purpose?

(Reminds me of some of the bugs I've seen in games like SaGa 1 (including the one with the Saw) and Morrowind.)

(Also, obligatory reminder not to uninstall the game before patching it, as there is a well known critical data loss bug.)

That will only happen if you use a win9x based system, it wont affect anything based on WinXP or up as the files it removes in Win9X do not exist in Windows XP and up.
