I'm located in France currently, but I don't speak French! I only speak English!

The GOG store always spams my mailbox with advertisements written in French, and the store front page is stuck in French language. Why isn't there any option to set the desired language?

This automatic localization based on IP is really dumb and has pissed me off for months now.

Can GOG.com wake up and stop this nonsense?
Yes,I have to agree. It's a dumb setup if you can't change to desired language...
It's a user setting. There's a drop box with language options at bottom of the homepage, attention, I believe it's NOT in the settings page.

The setting on the page only affects the currently used language on the website. You still receive newsletters in the wrong language. I've sent a support request about this issue. Let's see what they have to say about the matter.
GOG always knows best. Trust GOG.

I agree, users have a right to set their desired and preferred language.

There are more problems of GOG use geoIP, like certain games becomes unavailiable to certain countries

From my personal experience (receiving the blasted things in painful "videogamey" French all of a sudden & grumbling about it), nothing. I'm randomly getting some of the newsletters twice, once in french and once in english. Haven't received it in german yet.
Might as well cancel the subscription thing since I'm visiting GOG on a daily basis anyway, but I have a sort of morbid curiosity as to whether they'll fix this and finally match website & newsletter languages...
Hah, French is easy, try using steam in Thailand...
bitching 'e' mev! 'oH Daghaj nuvpu' ngeD!
I'm not sure if it works yet, but this might help.
Same issue here; I live in the French speaking part of Switzerland but I prefer to have online shop in English... and yet GoG decide that because of my IP I need to have everything in German :(
