Yes but why are others. I know you can only speak for yourself but why do you think they are doing that. I thought the down vote was for really offensive stuff since down voting also shows the report button.

It probably was something others' found really "offensive"; while there is a freedom to use whatever language you choose to use, there are also cultural inferences that are not considered "funny" by others' whose memory spans lifetimes.

Just make sure you use good "taste" with any imagery presented and show some maturity in your sense of humor and you will survive.

There are those on the forums that will downvote as they see fit and use it as a form of moderation (which you are asking for - irony perhaps). There are also those that target people and excessively downvote every post they make.

YES, yes that is absolutely right and I think there should be things in place to stop that. Exactly what I'm not sure, but I'd defiantly be up for discussing it.

theres no discussion on it really as GOG has said (specifically) "we dont have the resources to fix this" - which they've been saying for a long time as its been a problem for a long time - and they also dont actually seem to care.

they're looking at growth - not making sure things work to sustain that growth. galaxy, new publishers, regional pricing etc has taken their focus away from the community and onto other things.

though, a quick forum search will show that this has been an issue adressed to GOG over and over again since its inception.

I slowly start to agree... GOG needs some irate mod to stop stuff like it's happening in the known scammers, I got a death threaf, Gamergate News and TotalBiscuit Recommends threads.

Just have a look at these threads! In the known scammers thread we have alt accounts (with "awesome" titles like "suck my dick fag") talking about creating more alt accounts to piss off legitimate users. And the other threads look like a dictionary of words you shouldn't say. They're full of insults. No arguing and no heated debates, no, just plain insults. The TotalBiscuit one was my personal highlight, where one user first dropped LOTS of posts like this one: just to post this two days later: What. The. Fuck? "Dear TotalBiscuit. I just insulted you because that's what the cool kids do, but now I've watched one of your videos and noticed that you're pretty okay for someone who gets that much internet hate" oO Please, GOG, do something about this! This is not the "classy" and "self moderating" community from three years ago anymore. The only "self moderation" I've seen in the past couple of weeks were harmless threads that got deleted because enough people abused the spam report feature (spam report doesn't sound like something that's meant to delete threads YOU don't like). And this is something that you should stop too, by the way...

Seriously, we have some users here (new and old) who don't do anything except of insulting and harassing people. It's not funny anymore. Bring back TheEnigmaticT or get someone else on board who steps in from time to time to tell people to "keep it civil" (I've rarely seen TET doing any more "moderation" than that, but it always seemed to help)!

While I am reluctantly starting to warm to this idea, I want privilege, or to be more concise, I want mods with a knowledge of the regs and a SENSE OF HUMOR!

Keeping those you mentioned out is all well and good but I don't want some asshole mod who doesn't know the lay of the land tossing bans out to people like me for being a smartass, or Sachys for mentioning sausages, or, well all of us, for mentioning Ricky. Every once in a while some noob will show up and see a running joke taken out of context and insist that the poster is a spammer or a troll. God forbid they give absolute power to someone without a sarcasm detector; the fucking forum would have three people left in it by the end of the first day. :P

Funny or not (OPINIONS!) I don't find Mr E's posts particularly ban-worthy, compared to some of the asshattery ( which is now a word) that goes on when lots of people gather in one place, especially on the internet.

Two things:

1 - Who is the community manager and why he/she isn't present here? Are you telling me that a big company like gog doesn't have money to hire a community manager? It looks like they're afraid of something, it's just the drop in with a message and bye.

2 - People saying no to moderators may i ask why? I do understand the moderators = cops but at this point we have a militia doing the cops work and worse, the criminals can even do the cops work at their will.

I'm not dumb, i know why people don't like mods because i've seen some pathetic attitudes on another (reputed) gaming forum from mods but it doesn't mean that it would be like that everywhere, especially when the gog's brand is attached to that person.

But dunno, i think that a mod wouldn't be a solution when the system is broken, you ban a person and he returns with a different account, another ban and that person gets 10, 20, 30, etc, accounts and start shitting the forum.

Well, he is one of those people, that derail threads. Sometimes as soon as 2nd or 3rd post, just because he didn't like the OP's question or topic of choice. And that is what a lot of mods don't like and punish apart from the usual offensive slurs.

So people get banned for being off topic (great).
That's what is so good about this place,you can talk about any subject in any thread
without some prick coming in and saying (that's off topic,you can't do that.)
