OpenVR is as open as its libraries and many games work under SteamVR which uses its platform, a good example of one here, which after time in development has received some praise, "The Solus Project".

I typically have to go to Steam to buy VR content, not that I don't want to give either Steam nor GOG my money, I don't see why the opportunity isn't sought out.

GOG took a chance on movies, why not Virtual Reality?
Uh, what? Why? It'd probably go the way of GOG movies.
Thanks but no thanks. I have enough trouble distinguishing reality from fantasy as is.
Support a very expensive peripheral that requires an even more expensive graphics card and offers a very limited selection of games?

Maybe not the best argument you could have brought to the table ;-)

Only one I had. :(

I had to upgrade to a GTX 970 to play the Witcher 3, it's the barrier to entry.

Did I say I was looking for an endorsement from you? No? OK, shoo. ;)

VR storefront and VR game launcher?
NO!!! Please do not bring that VR nonsense to GOG! :D

It's already annoying enough to see all that barely playable VR crap pushed at the Steam store.
No offense but if I have one image of the (at least more hardcore) GOG fanbase it's that their PC's and/or Internet capacities generally seem to be woefully behind the current day averages. (not saying *everyone*) I don't think focusing on high tech like that will do much for GOG. Even at triple AAA titles that require a relatively new computer you already see plenty of remarks from people who wouldn't even be able to run it.

Granted you can argue that's a customerbase they should and slowly will grow over time but, when it eventually has grown sounds like a much better time to focus on something like VR, else you'll just see another largely dead project on GOG, and worse, that's what the devs who put in effort to put it on GOG will see, and then, by the time the GOG customerbase finally catches up to the tech the GOG VR section might have already long been left behind by the devs.

I can see you think it's nonsense and there actually are some things one might not enjoy out there, but what would you think of "The Solus Project"? a game sold here on GOG?

Shun this, I shun GOG.

...and how does The Witcher 3 run on those machines?

On my pc? I guarantee pretty shitty, so I haven't bothered to buy it. :P
No. Just no. There are so many proper games, old and new, that are not yet on GOG. So much that needs to be done for the site and forum and even Galaxy (which I don't even use). VR would be a total waste of time and resources.

I'm apparently wasting my time here then. Thank you for that.

edit: not meant to be rude, but this is "Good Old Games", so perfectly understood.

It should also be mentioned that EA and friends would likely charge an added premium for this.
We announce the GOGulus Drift.
