Chri2Kng: I have BG2 non enhance edition and it really is not only bad for your eyes, but it really hard to read as well.
Have you tried any mods for BG2? There is a widescreen patch for both BG & IWD & PS:T that make them easier on the eyes and many other mods that bring new stuff etc. I post this from my smartphone and it's too much of a hassle for me right now, to send you the link of the GOG guide to modding BG - if any other GOGer can post the link, be my guest, otherwise I'll do it when I get back home. Or use the search function and hope it works right! ;-)

As for the sale itself, i bet it will come back the last day so keep your eyes open! ;-)

Well, if you wanted to experience it as it was meant to be played, you should play it in a 14" crt monitor with the default resolution! :P

In my opinion, in the year 2015, BG should be played with the widescreen patch. Convinience mods and whatever else are optional and not recommended for first playthrough (unless I forget something essential).

I have not tried any of the enhanced editions, but from what I see, they're like the classic versions, just modded. I read about some new stuff though but I can't comment on that. If you have the money, go for the EE versions or take some time to mod the classic ones.

As for the manual, a big portion of it is for the spells. Don't be afraid, it's good! Also, check for Dan Simpson's guides on Gamefaqs.com. ;-)

Bookmark it! Thanks!

What is it default resolution? Is it 768p? That would be perfect since I'm buying a net book and it resolution is 768p. Yup I only want to mod that don't affect vanilla game play.

I also hate this sale just like i hate Steam. I don't want to be force to check or make my decision on the few short time I have online. Why can't they have all the sale available from the start that will last all the way to the end of sale? I guess they make more profit this way and increase the hype? Maybe people spend more than they realize instead of buying all at once?

You're welcome! I can't recall the default resolution right now but I guess it is 640*480. As for your netbook, I guess you should try 1366*768. If you want to be close to vanilla gameplay, you can use only the widescreen patch. Anyway, consult the link above!

As for the sale, I can only comment the it is a very relaxed sale.. nothing like Insomnia. ;-)

Mate, I been debating if I want to buy games that are $2 and less. What on earth is wrong with me?

480p is pretty low res - wow.

That is true mate, the first Steam sale (back when it was really good) I had drove me nuts. I couldn't and didn't want to miss a single deal and that was back when I was use to pay full price for games at local retail like Best Buy and Fry. When I found Steam, I thought I hit the JACKPOT!!!

I don't know why people say console is cheaper, PC is cheaper!

Thanks for finding that link for me mate, that hell a lot and is exactly what I am looking for. I hate to miss old classic games just cause it hard on my eyes.

tinyE: No offense taken! By all means if I'm wrong let me know because I'd love to play it if it's fixed and or never was bugged.
If you're serious about playing Baldur's Gate 1, and don't have or don't want the EE, then you absolutely should be playing it with the TuTu mod, which runs it in the BG2 engine. There are very few bugs (I don't remember any) running BG1 in TuTu.

Hey mate, will it look as good as the EE version though?

No. The EE was a big deal in large part because Beamdog prettied up the engine.

On the other hand, BG 1 in TuTu will automatically run at 1024x768 without the need to screw around with settings and go to the forum to find out why when you set it to 1080p it looks like a torn image stitched together from 800x600 and 1024x768 in random pieces (BG EE had some serious graphical scaling problems).

BG1 in TuTu will look as good as BG2 did, which is pretty good. BG2 didn't look as good as, say, PoE looks, but at 1024x768 you should be able to enjoy the game with no problem.

Yeah that what I'm thinking since I just bought a netbook that can run old resolution cause running old games on a 1080p monitor is dreadful. Anything less than native resolution is awful. It like playing a ps2 games on an HDTV...no no 1080p cannot downscale to 240p or vice versa.

And also what you wrote explain why it look so awful with BG2 and I was wondering how other could play a classic game like that but it does appear that it will look better at it native resolution. I'll use my netbook to run old games and my computer to run new games. This is probably why I dislike emulation as well and always prefer playing on the old console instead.

Chri2Kng: Please bring back the D&G enchance edition sale again!!!!!
D&G? Dolce and Gabbana? Since when did GOG start selling expensive Italian fashions DRM-free? (And does this mean we'll be seeing Prada, Gucci and Armani here soon?)

I think like most of the people have already said in this thread. I think it Dragon and Gargon actually, which I have to say is not a bad name, not a bad name at all.

Dolce and Gabanna, isn't that a brand only for girls?
