Obviously, as you’ve probably guessed, we’re starting to move forward on [Pillars of] Eternity II. That is probably something that we want to look at [in terms of crowdfunding]. I think people felt like we delivered on our promise, and then that felt like we could go with Eternity II and people would support us again, because they trust us.

Eternity II is not announced, [but] it seems silly for me not to acknowledge it, though. If someone asks: “Are you working on it?”, I respond: “Well, wouldn’t you work on it?”. So then they say: “So you must be working on it”, and then I’m like: “Well, yeah”.

Mayby I'll get my hands on the first one in time for the sequel. At least, unlike Witcher 3, I don't need to upgrade my PC for that.

How old is your PC?

That depends... it's sort of a PC of Theseus by now. It's still doing ok for most games, at least the kind I play (indie RPGs, point & clicks), so I feel disinclined to spend any more on upgrading it for the few AAA games like Witcher 3 I care for.
I have to admit I funded the original game more a fan of the development house Obsidian than any specific hope for a game.

And now that Obsidian did PoE so conventioally - I hope we might see bit of that characteristic playfulness and iconoclasm of Obsidian in the next.
Nice, hope to see some original characters, not just mages with different hats or none.
PoE greatest weakness for me, it's shitty character builds...they all seem alike after a few plays.
Something that doesn't end in mancer...can but hope.
Would be happy to see the back of the guns too, always hated them, seem out of place, to me anyway.

I loved Pillars of Eternity, but I have to admit in a lot of ways it's very generic. I'm not sure how interested I am in a sequel.

I'd rather see a new game with different lore, setting and classes using the same engine.

Obsidian is actually working on something exactly like that, called Tyranny! I'm pretty excited for this one.

Right! I forgot about Tyranny, read about it a few weeks ago then it completely fell off my radar.

That interests me more than a PoE sequel.
I better finish the first one... got maybe 1/4 of the game left, but haven't touched it for what feels like almost a year.
I guess this is as good place as any to mention the new Cain / Boyarsky project as well - it was the same interview, after all. I say "mention" because that's about the entirety of the information currently available. Link
