(I was asked to post this in general forum as well so everybody can see it)

I was very interested in buying this game now that it is on sale. But I also noticed that there wasn't a single changelog while Steam received several updates including a big feature update. So I did the usual thing I am doing in such cases: Contacting the devs via e-mail (returned for whatever reason), facebook messenger, facebook comments and Steam forum). After days and today adding a single "Not even a reply?" I got the shocking response from the devs.

"We were in NYC, sorry for the late reply. We are having issues with GOG so no update. It’s updated on all other systems."

Basically this means that the devs don't have any problems to make more money (this game is in the actual sale) from GOG customers but they refuse to update the game at all because of "issues". So to punish GOG they punish their customers. If that is the way they are thinking please don't support them. Don't buy this game or any future game from them because such devs should vanish from the earth imo. They have our money and could not care less about customers now. For me this is completely unbelievable. It's just so wrong in every regard and my reply to them was accordingly.

I also contacted GOG and I really hope that they will pull the game because this game will never receive any updates at all. The devs said so quite clearly. If they have "issues" with GOG they should simply stop selling the game here at all!

I'd like to know if by "having issues with GOG" they mean problems with the company or technical problems with getting the GOG version updated. Either way, this is another game for my GOGmix.
Other devs have claimed they also have issues with getting the GOG version updated. Postal 2 devs I believe said the same thing as to why the GOG version was outdated and even offered a Steam copy with proof of purchase. Many of devs have claimed they couldn't even get a response from GOG.

At a point one has to wonder if it's simply GOG that is the issue, not that the companies don't want to update their games. GOG seems to like making things difficult for devs.
Sorry but "no update" and "it's updated on all other systems" does not sound at all as if they simply have technical issues. In 5this case they would have written something like "unfortunately we have some issues with GOG atm but we are working on them". The message is loud and clear.

(It's also not the first update and I highly doubt that every time they had some technical issues)

I wish I could remember the specific examples, but I do recall instances of GOG being sent updates and then just not doing anything with them.
Why do they have to be so cryptic about it? Well, off the wishlist it goes...

Maybe these updates were just "too niche"? oO

They looked too much like mobile game updates.

I'm a bit tired of posting this link, but the wishlist could still get some more votes:
No more outdated or abandoned games

Honestly, to me the reply sounds like it could mean anything, including technical issues. I'm not familiar with the devs, but I take it they don't have a dedicated PR person.

I'd at least wait for a clarification from them or Gog before getting the pitchforks.

Marko, can you ask them to clarify if this is an issue with GOG the company or a technical issue with GOG's platform? As well, it would be interesting to see if they'd give customers who bought it here a Steam key (or a key for one of the other 'updated systems') if they have no intention of updating it here. If they're unwilling to do that, then I'd definitely say screw them. But if they're willing to at least try to make it right somehow, then maybe they'd get a second chance - although not if they offer games here and can't/won't update them.

What can I say, sometimes even the simplest fix takes ages. Have a look here for example: a user noticed that a game was missing audio files. Figured out why AND how to fix it, and then notified support on december 2015.

It was fixed over a year later...

So yeah, without knowing exactly what "issues" means, I'll hold my judgment.
What's absurd is that most indie devs have absolutely no trouble updating their games reliably updating in compliance with GOG policy. (Factorio, Starbound, Parkitecht, et al.) and even big guys like GalCiv III is updating on a reasonable time scale.

It must be an issue of Perception. :P (But considering the middling reviews to...being slammed on Destructoid, I'm not surprised the pub is being iffy and blind.)

That comment is so vague that it could mean lots of things. Apparently you took it to mean they have already abandoned the game (for good?) on GOG, while it could be also understood as:

"We are now in NYC and can't update the GOG version right now from here due to issues with the GOG update system. It is already up to date on other systems."

Or, then it could mean what you thought, that they have decided to abandon it (at least for now) on GOG. So I personally would have two additional questions to them (to clarify it):

1. "Are you going to update the GOG version?"

2. "If not, ie. you have abandoned the GOG version, why are you still selling it on GOG? Don't you feel it is wrong towards the potential buyers at GOG, getting an abandoned version?"

Anyway, good you informed at least GOG, it is their job to work out any problems with the developers.
