ciemnogrodzianin: Perhaps the message should be sent to inquires@gog.com. I'm not sure forum is the best way to reach a proper people being behind the decision. Please, find the GOG's answer below.

I'm afraid that I cannot reveal the details of why such decision was made but please believe me it wasn't without a reason and was based on on couple of factors. Also I'm not sure if actually support is a good place for such statements since no matter how we appreciate it, we could only pass your message to our bizdev team. For any business contacts you should use use this address: inquires@gog.com. Anyway I apologize if you find this situation as an inconvenience.

ciemnogrodzianin:
Funny advice, since inquires@gog.com rejects my mails with the message 'user unknown in local recipient table'.

So basically support is saying: "Hey, don't ask me! Send a mail to an address that isn't accepting external mails instead!"

amok: So this has been a thing for a few days now, with the alpha released for $20 / £15.50 on the 19th October. And it is Zachtronics best game to date. It is still a fiendish puzzle game, casting you as an alchemist making machines to transmute and create molecules. But it is much more user friendly and accessible this time, with no restrictions at all. The aim is first to create what-ever, and then to optimise to the maximum for greater score. When you have built a machine, you are compared with what everyone else have done, and you can see how effective you have been...

Lifthrasil: ...is this part mandatory? This comparing to others, which would require you to be online? If it is (=forced online), then that might very well be the reason GOG rejected the game. Just speculating here, but this stood out to me in the game's description.
no. if you are not online, the histograms just show as empty. no change to the rest of the game

OK. So that can't be the reason.

MadalinStroe: Where did you find this response?
I've created my own support ticket. Subject: Other. (:

Indeed. I suppose it makes my support ticket "unresolved / still valid" :P

I'm determined to find the person, who made that decision and I'll bring the man here, letting you decide what kind of tortures should be applied. I'm in Warsaw now. She/he cannot hide forever. Wish me luck ;)

Edit: the proper email address is inquiries@gog.com.

I'll try it with that. Meanwhile, good luck hunting!

No, it isn't. They're not Steam-based, and a switch in the options disables them entirely ("hermit mode"). If that was a problem, Zach could've shipped the GOG version with hermit mode enabled by default.

edit: it's also not achievement-centered. There are only 5 achievements on steam: win the game, complete bonus levels, and three for the solitaire counter. (Contrast with a game like Kingdom: The New Lands, which, while good, is achievement-centered but doesn't feature them in the game proper.)

LOL, at this point its really random.org with the following options
- Yes, this game is fine
- Sorry, it looks too-mobile
- Sorry, it's not pixelated enough
- Sorry, it's not roguelike enough / c'mon no permadeath?
- Sorry, we believe it doesn't match our userbase taste of games.

Anyway it reminded me of another silly choice to reject Zafehouse Diaries 2.
All other Screwfly Studios games are here and they reject it because reasons.

I almost wonder if they do randomly reject one in every five games just to maintain the mystique. No one will ever work out their selection criteria because they don't exist!
So is there any way GOG will change their mind and add Opus Magnum? It looked like a really interesting game.

I guess they might if they have enough potential customers facepalming. I sent a message to support simply expressing my desire to see the game here, I suggest you do the same.

I just sent a message to support about Opus Magnum. I really hope GOG will change its mind and add the game!

I heard that the same happened to Skyrim ;)
What else could be a reason to reject this game "for a couple of factors"?

Does it have pornographic content, maybe?
I haven't played it yet (how can i without a release on GOG?), but i heard, that you can create a love potion there or something similar?

it's the pistons, isn't it? Those trusting in-out motion, repeating and trusting and the machinery glistering in oil and running smoothly as the pistons keep trusting in and out, relentlessly, not caring whether the machine wants it or not, but just keeps going on trusting, and the machine just have to lie there and take it, and take it as the pistons ram the atoms in place, and.. excuse me, I need a cold shower....

I'm pretty satisfied with buying at Humblebundle instead of GoG. This means that I don't have to deal with those Galaxy infected installers but gets the game as a .zipped folder, fully portable. Sweet! It was a bit of a bother that I had to select a charity just to buy a shitty game. But then I found out that I could select Doctors Without Borders.

The games data, (images/sound/etc) is fully accessible, so it's pretty easy to mod. Of course, this means that you get a free soundtrack too.

Oh, and the game is great! :)
