To be fair there aren't that many good games from the 90's that are easily obtainable. Besides games from 5-10 years ago are old in most people's view.

Chacranajxy: Yes, and he can cite numbers for as long as he wants. The relative value of the old games that get released these days is what's up for debate. Who cares if old games are technically being released if most of them are crap?
avatar
GR00T: Isn't the crappiness of any particular game rather subjective?
It is -- I'm not disputing that.

That reminds me. Here's something from the 90's. Sadly not a game. And not very good. ;P

I literally don't remember the 90s. The whole decade is a drug induced blur.

Then stop giving me all those 90's flashbacks! ;)

Pat123: Hey guys,

is it just me, or is it, that most of the recent releases on GOG aren't "good old games" anymore, but more current indie games and titles from the last 5-10 years. I'm missing more games from the 80s/90s, which GOG once stood for.
Pre-2010 Games Released on GOG in 2017:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Pizza Tycoon
Pizza Tycoon 2
Sea Dogs: City of Abandoned Ships
Ignition
Tachyon: The Fringe
Ceville (re-added to the catalogue after having been removed)
Lost Eden
Imperium Galactica II: Alliances
SWAT 4: Gold Edition
Constructor (re-added to the catalogue after having been removed)
Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist
Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom
Caesar
Caesar II
Dear Esther: Landmark Edition (borderline case, as the original mod was from ca. 2008, while the first standalone commercial version released in 2012)
The Colonel's Bequest
The Dagger of Amon Ra
Hidden & Dangerous Action Pack
Hidden & Dangerous 2: Courage Under Fire
The Adventures of Willy Beamish
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil
Army Men RTS
Delta Force
Delta Force 2
Delta Force: Land Warrior
Delta Force: Task Force Dagger
Delta Force: Black Hawk Down Platinum Pack
Delta Force Xtreme
Pray for Death
Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition (borderline case, as it replaced [but still includes a separate copy of] the "classic" Planescape: Torment)
Codename: ICEMAN
SpellForce 2 - Anniversary Edition (borderline case, as it replaced the games whose content it contains [Spellforce 2: Shadow Wars & Spellforce 2: Dragon Storm])
Full Throttle Remastered
de Blob
Conquests of Camelot: The Search for the Grail
Conquests of the Longbow: The Legend of Robin Hood
Empires: Dawn of the Modern World

I've bolded the games which originally came out before 2000.

Also: obligatory. :)
And I believe we'll keep seeing more Activision classics be released.

Hey! I thought we already had our "there's no old games anymore" thread for the month!
Or did I do a miscount?
I didnt know, threads about this topic are coming up here regulary. it was just a subjective feeling. ;)
Honestly I don't think GOG will ever be able to top the mass release of all the Gold Box/D&D games.
There are several old games that are available DRM-Free at other stores so they could also be released at GOG.
Just a few examples:

Games available at <span class="bold">FireFlower Games</span>:

<span class="bold">Atlantis 4: Evolution</span>
<span class="bold">Atlantis 5: The Secrets of Atlantis</span>
<span class="bold">Planet Alcatraz</span>
<span class="bold">Venetica - Gold Edition</span>
<span class="bold">Dawn of Magic</span>
<span class="bold">Dawn of Magic 2</span>

Games available at <span class="bold">Zoom Platform</span>:

<span class="bold">Overlord II</span>
<span class="bold">Dragon Lore II: Heart Of The Dragon Man</span>
<span class="bold">Stranger</span>
<span class="bold">The I of the Dragon</span>
<span class="bold">Death Rally (FREE)</span>

They could easily do that for me by a mass release of all the old SSI and/or SSG strategy and wargames. Alas I'm in the minority with that I think.
