Afterlife is an oldie that felt pretty new to me. This is so nice.
Lucasarts games are here and, well, they're old. And the first day of the superb tower promo gog gave us a ton of old games, picked by hand.

So I'm crazy for a certain game but I know (and that's just me) there are tons of stuff to work on in order to put the game here. Developers, publishers etc. Even gog users are involved and that's CRAZY to me. Such a community (wish I could colaborate a little more on this sense), huh?

Yep yep I know """""sometimes""""" people (and myself, too) complain a """""little"""""" too much on a certain game from the old days, but these folks here seem a """"little""""" commited when it comes to giving us oldies ans bonuses and cool prices that you just DON'T FIND ELSEWHERE :)

omega64: Especially since 7 were released yesterday. :P

Some (weird) people think Skyrim is an old game. You won't know what someone means until they tell you. ;)

tburger: Dunno..Even with my 'puristic' approach (I'm here for oldies...veeery rarely interested in 2k+ titles) - I feel rather overwhelmed by a number of 'must-have games' released on GOG in last months than dissapointed.
Couldn't agree more. Every week there's something flashy to the eye, huh?
But when that special oldie/highly wanted games pops up.... huuummm feels damn good ლ(́◉◞౪◟◉‵ლ)

IronArcturus: GOG recently released . That game had been on the [url=http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/outlaws]wishlist for at least 3 years with over 2,700 votes. Some older, classic games just take time for GOG to acquire because of licensing issues.

Who knows? Maybe someday the No One Lives Forever series could make it to GOG...

snowkatt: system shock 1 first
I'd like them to provide One Must Fall: 2097 and figure that should be easy with how the rights are (though I don't really know much about that stuff) and yet they don't and I don't understand. It might be a game that would make me want to use Galaxy even, for multiplayer.
avatar
snowkatt: lets take discworld as an example

discworld noir was developed by perfect entertainment which turned in to teeny weeny games in 2000 and then went bankrupt in 2002
the publisher was gt interactive which ceased to be in 2000 as it got taken over by infograms who renamed itself in to atari in 2003 and who is as of 2013 bankrupt

so who owns the rights to discworld noir then and who needs to be approached ?

lets not forget that the estate of terry pratchett also has a say in this

and thats just one game
I think I bought the rights to Discworld Noir in a garage sale last year for about £2.50. Not sure what to do with the damn thing right now, but it was a bargain.

Unless someone would be able and willing to create a modern port of OMF I doubt very much that Galaxy would be ever used to power this game's multiplayer. It's a DOS game after all - would be great if GOG at least used Galaxy to set up DOSBox sessions automatically but as far as I can tell there's so far no reason to believe that they are gonna use Galaxy this way. So far it seems that Galaxy will only be used in recent / upcoming games which are primarily designed with Steamworks in mind.
Huh? They just released a fuck load of classic LucasArts not that long ago...

Atari still exists. They filed bankruptcy but they got out of it. They are just a tiny company now but it's the same legal entity that either still owns its earlier intellectual property or may help tracking down the new owners.

Heck, there's actually quite a few games currently owned by them on GOG and they just released Act of War here.

I think that's still in the TBD phase.

Not surprising since in the vast majority of countries if you buy or take over a company you have to honor any contracts or legal agreements that the company you took over made.
