Old games only? Good luck with that.
There is also the fact that a lot of old games have very unclear rights associated with them. Some might own the rights to the games, other people to the IP, and if we are talking the nineties the owners might have been acquired, merged and split a ton of times since then.

Sorting out who actually have the rights to a game can be nightmare. I just think it is cool Lucasarts came on board recently. They are have a big catalog of game where it is clear who owns the rights these days. (Disney) And the same with Paradox - not so old games but still a reat addition to the catalog.

Abandonware sites often operate on the basis that they have a game until someone comes along claiming that they have the rights. This is a legal gray area and GOG cannot risk doing that. Over time I think we will slowly see more old games coming in. The future is bright!

A think a rich source for more games could be to go for Amiga emulated games. For instance, I would love to see all the old Psygnosis games on GOG - in the Amiga versions. Shadow of the Beast!
I think they release all the old games they can. I don't see the point in not releasing new games, the only result would be nearly no releases.
Old games can be a nightmare for gog not only who owns the rights but getting them to work on modern pc's. Dos games no problem use dos box but older windows versions can prove tricky and take time to get to work.

I am sure gog is doing their best to release old classics but they need newer games to give some quick cash injection as they dont need as much work on them and costs gog less to get up to selling it.

There are a lot of old classics i wish to see again (Midwinter for one) but i am happy with the games we have old and new and i hope 1 day to see that old classic here.
Afterlife off of 1996 came out just 6 days ago!

Ravencrest: when there was any seroisus update to the old titles (dos and early windows era)?
I would call the LucasArts games we were getting over the last months old ;-)
Good old games is what we like to see here on gog.
But as one of the staff already said, the low-hanging fruit of old games have already been collected.
The games that remain are the difficult to get.
Plus let's not get too 'rose tinted specs' about 'GOGs old formula' here - IIRC GOG original policy was to only release games that are at least 5 years old, under that policy 5 of the 7 games released yesterday from 1C and Paradox would still have been fair game (2 of the 1C Men of War games are from 2011)
Whenever I see a thread like this, this pops into my head for some reason.

As long as the games are DRM free and not total shovelware I really don't see any problem with release *more* games than they promised. Win-win.

Ravencrest: Do you think similiar as i do ?
What do you consider as "old games"? Games older than you?

What is it in older games that make them more preferable to you? Why don't you want to play also newer games?

I'm about as excited to see both newer (like Pillars of Eternity) and older (like Star Wars Battleground) here. I'm not an agists, when it comes to games.

Ravencrest: snip
So far in 2015, GOG has released 97 titles. Of those, 25 (26%) were day 1 releases, 15 (15%) were pre-2K ones and 29 (30%) were at least 10 years old at the date of GOG release.
More info can be found in this thread, and the data is compiled here.

GOG has also signed a few new publishers that do have quite a few classic games, so the classic releases will not stop, even if at times it does seem like they are thinning.
Let's face it, people are more concerned when their GTA5 is broken than Mario Bros not working.

Cold, hard truth.

Stop clinging in the past.

Fun Fact: Mario Bros as in the arcade game is functionally sound. It properly loops, the physics are sound, and it doesn't suffer any overflow errors.
