Koei-Tecmo's Dark Souls-style actioner was announced for PC earlier today. The game was previously thought to be a PS4 exclusive, but... I guess not. It's an amazing game, and totally worth playing, and the PC version will ship with all the DLC that came out on the PS4. The only thing up in the air is the quality of the port, which Koei Tecmo is... not so consistent with. But I guess we'll see.

In any case, one can hope that if GOG is ever going to get KT on board, this is the game they'll do it for. Nioh is really good.
I want to be excited since I liked the game on PS4, but I have a feeling it's going to be another mediocre/crappy port like most other Tecmo Koei games on PC (at least when reading about them, don't have any experience with them myself). =/
Hm, I borrowed the game from my brother, but did not enjoy it that much. Granted I did not like the Dark Souls games either, however I thought the Japanese mythological traits would make me endure the game, ... which did not happen.
I did like, and even finished(!), The Surge though, another Dark Souls-like game, ... but that's a different story.
I really hope it will be a decent PC port :P

Personally I wouldn't call Tecmo port "crappy"; they are "minimal" as in don't expect tons of settings, huge improvements over the console version, etc... but they are usually serviceable and allows you to play the game in good condition and Nioh being 60fps on console we can "normally" expect it to be 60fps also on PC. (As they won't have the, "we cannot run at 60 because the physics is tied to the FPS" excuse.)
Well, if this ends up on GOG, I'll definitely give it a look.

Well, the issue with KT's ports is that they're inconsistent. Sometimes, they have parity with the PS4 version. Other times, they're worse, and they'll use the PS3 assets in the PC version even when a PS4 version already exists. And the odd thing is, it happens at random -- it's tough to know what you're going to get unless someone's volunteered to be the guinea pig for it.

The excuse about "we can't run at 60fps, because frame rate is tied to game logic," is valid, though. It's a bad development habit in this day and age, but I can at least understand that one.
I hope it sells well on PCs, too. Great game.
It seems that it'll be released exclusively for Steam.
That, or the announcement message was badly written.
Considering how awful their ports tend to be, I won't regret having purchased it on PS4 quite yet.
well if port is good, good news, if ... ^^
Ugh, does look like Steam only. Well, I can wait until it shows up on GOG (or just work on more of the backlog if it doesn't).
DO WANT. This game looks incredible!!

I also have that fear. The hardware requirements looks too high.
Unless I'm mistaken, the only reason Durante fixed the original Dark Souls, when it first came out, was because he really liked the gameplay. Seeing how similar this is to Dark Souls, I'd be surprised this not repeating, should the port be bad.

Also, I remember Total Biscuit remarking in his most recent wtf is... video about a game published by Koei-Tecmo, that the quality of their ports has been slowly increasing. I think it was for Toukiden 2...???

Most importantly, Nioh, unless I'm miss-remembering, is a pretty successful game on PS4, so it would be in their interest to spend more than usual time on polishing the PC release.

Who knows, we'll see.

GTX 1060. That doesn't seem too high for the recommended system to allow 4k@30FPS or 1080p@60FPS, considering that we are near the end of this generation of GPUs. Though I'll admit, that I never play brand new games, so I'm not confident in that observation.

However high "minimum requirements" is an indication of a game that lacks optimization, but considering that this was made for consoles, it shouldn't be a surprise. But again, I don't know if GTX 780 could be considered as too high as a minimum?
