8 Days left on the KS, and there are some interesting updates describing the game in more detail.

Perhaps even more to the point there's an update - update #15 - which contains a Demo for those who'd like to get a bit more hands on before making a decision.

Crosmando: To be honest, what I really want is a vampire game in which vampires are portrayed as being monsters in human skin with completely alien mindset to humans, what we usually get is "vampires" which are just humans with pointy canine teeth and pale skin (kinda like how Elves are just portrayed as humans with pointy ears).

andysheets1975: Yeah, or they basically just make them superheroes who can't come out in the daylight ("Oh no, I'm doomed to an eternity of looking really fashionable at night!"). They're soulless parasites and they're undead, so really their sex appeal is an illusion designed to lure in prey (you never see modern vampire stories grapple with how gross it would be to screw someone, corpse or not, that's room temperature). They probably stink like hell, too.
Thats what I love about the Vampires RPG; you can have it all. Well, not at once but each clan represents a difference cliche of Vampire. But if you really want a game with Vampires with Alien mindset one should tackle the "Lifeforce" IP. With regular Vampires the human base mind set and ambitions do make sense being ex-humans themselves and having to survive in a human world.

"30 days of night" tried that though. While an awesome entertaining movie the Vampires never really felt like Vampires. More like Zombie-Monster mix creatures.
I still have bitter taste after "Epiphany". However, Unawoved was highly prased. So maybe I think about buyng this eventually.

But considering that all implementations of vampires (even in folk tales and mythology) are derived/converted from humans, why would they have a completely alien mindset to humans? Even someone who "turned" a 1000 years ago would still retain some of that.

I like the alien mindset from humans. What I mean is that some of our cultures can have surprising aspects and norms within them so creating an unexpected space socially but mirroring the actual cultures from classical periods is a really fun idea to me. Sometimes humans are the most alien thing around ;)

What didn't you like about Epiphany? The only issue I had with it was how they went in a completely different direction from what Deception made it seem like they were going to, which was disappointing since I was all hyped for them fighting the powerful group of energy vampires.

The ending really sucked imo, I would have preferred a somewhat happier one.

Yes, exactly that.
Also, Rosangela doubts about Bestower job at the end of Deception were completely forgotten.
Also, Joey's "transformation" in the ending. It looks more like fairy tale thing, then urban fantasy.
Also, bestowing eternity to all ghosts IN THE WORLD?! Without talking to them, without meking them face their problems?
In earlier games the whole reason for ghosts was their own reluctance to cross over. And now it was totally forgotten.
Also, Contice's betraial looked like it came out of the blue. If any, even unexperienced, Bestower could do just that on a whim (Rosa did this with Gavin's help) why such situation is considered unique?

And that was just too much. Blackwell games are story driven games and their plot tied them together very closely. Seeing the last game totally forgetting some established lore and story from previous ones was for me completely unacceptable. Regardless of gameplay and art style advancements.

Ironically, for me personally, that part wasn't an issue.

Pretty sure it was just a couple mile radius.
Weekend reminder that this project has a demo out.
If it a look and see if it's your cup of tea, demos are a shiy way to sample gaming after all :)

I never got a response to my email about getting keys for GoG if they do manage to get approved here. I'm willing to take a steam key if there's no other choice - but I'm tired of Kickstarters that bring their games to GoG but don't have an option for a GoG key for backers. It's something I would totally back otherwise.

Might still do so anyways - I'll see how I feel about it in a few days.

The intent is to be released on GOG, subject to GOG approval as per usual.

Regardless of GOG approval there is going to be no DRM baked into the game whatsoever (I asked that first thing because DRM is a deal breaker for me).

I'm not sure who's checking the e-mails for the project but via my conversations on both KS and their discord I'm confident there will be GOG keys if GOG accepts the game. I'll see if I can track down direct confirmation of that for you though, because I understand where you're coming from here for sure, but it would also be a shame if the game doesn't get backers due to a communication hiccup.

Confirmation from Dev regarding GOG codes.
The intention - presuming GOG accepts the game and allows the generation of codes after a successful funding on KS - is to offer GOG codes as one of the options for backers.

So as far as the game creator is concerned that is a "yes" but Dev can't speak for GOG (and obviously GOG are a pretty important part of the equasion when it comes to offering GOG codes ;) ).
high rated
Hey folks! Richard here.

AlienMind: Richard Cobbett designs? In Sunless Sea gas was out all the time which let you stranded, same in Long Journey Home. By this rate, I expect that you are blood-starving directly after 1 minute into the game.
Bummer, I REALLY dig the whole urban fantasy and loved Unavowed.
Uh... I didn't design those bits of those games. I'm a writer and narrative guy. I wrote the words for TLJH and designed my islands in Sunless, but had nothing to do with the economy of either. I also didn't program the Lander in TLJH :-)

I never got a response to my email about getting keys for GoG
Sorry - I never got it! But as said, yes, if it's possible to generate/provide codes through GOG in the same kind of way as it is on Steam, I definitely want to offer that choice, and for Nighthawks to be a proud member of the service. I love GOG myself, I've spent a fortune on it over the years.

Awesome, thank you for the answer. I'll back this near the end - I'm a little short on funds right now thanks to the anniversary sale :D
