Which launcher(s) will we need here? Epic Game Store Launcher? GOG Galaxy? Both?

gog will sell epic games on their store which means they are selling games with drm.

No effin clue what you're doing GoG. I use this site because I want the guarantee that everything I buy here is DRM-free. Looks like that's out the window. I'll wait for more information but it's not looking good.

You're thinking like one of us pesky old-school users that GOG doesn't seem to want to please. Don't you know the modern audience loves clients? If another client launches while you already have a game open in a client, who cares, it's still conveeeenient. The more the merrier! Or so some seem to think.

I dont use Galaxy as a store, but as an update/download app.
This move just makes me stay even more distant from using it as a store. Who knows if id be able to make sure any game sold is drm free when this feature is released, or even includes an offline installer.

Seems like gog is going the humble path of shifting into a key store. Sad times. Maybe this can work out favorably for the drm free enthusiast, but i dont see how atm.

I think one particularly sad thing about all of this is that GOG seems to be trying to fragment its own user base, into several different camps:

- those that have no interest in Galaxy and just want to be able to download offline installers
- those that want to use Galaxy, like achievements etc., but still care about DRM-free
- those that don't give a shit about DRM, will buy/play anything and just want the Galaxy client

They are trying to be all things to all people, which seems like a bit of a risky strategy ...

That is pr spin, you will need the launcher to install the game and then you dont which you can do with steam drm free games too. it still relies on the launcher to install.

Having read all the comments up until now, these are the worst and best case scenarios I see;

Best: GOG will be using Galaxy 2.0 as a test-bed for partnering with other stores in selling DRM-free games, while getting a cut of the p(r)i(c)e themselves.
(Hopefully they will soon come to the browser store with stand-alone installers and patches)

Worst: GOG is aiming to become a client to rule all other clients, compromising their core values in order to squeeze out the most profit.

Whatever the case may be, I really don't think I can see this as a good move.
Unless GOG clarifies themselves by going into more details about it, and their long-term goals.
Which is highly unlikely considering their history, and that these kinds of deals usually abound with NDA agreements.

I'm all about DRM-free games with stand-alone installers and patches myself.
I don't use, and will not use, the client for the foreseeable future.
