This was what the FE guys were up to all this time : http://www.forgottenempires.net/retaliation-enemy-mine
Safe to say I'm well beyond disappointed. I wanted an RTS honestly and sadly :(

Looks interesting, the "based on Go" part caught my attention. Is it going to be DRM-free and released on GOG?
TBS is good. I need time to think!
Looks pretty cool! Can GOG get it?
Just in case, I've wishlisted it:

Voted. I've already started pestering them about a GOG release on their greenlight page. Any help there will be appreciated. You can download a demo here: http://www.forgottenempires.net/retaliation-enemy-mine/demo
Here's the list of features :
1.AI with a PhD in rocket science
2.A gazillion random maps
3.21 different terrains to influence your tactical decisions
4.Wide variety of game modes
5.On-/off line multiplayer with other players and AIs
6.Terrain generator
7.Ability to forge and break alliances
8.Modding-ready
9.Convenient set of hotkeys

and they're releasing on Windows, Mac and Linux (via a WINE script) and the casual platforms. The feature list seem interesting but having to sell well on mobile seems counterproductive for a good strategy game to be a good strategy game.
Just played the tutorials with the demo version. Seems there is a luck element involved. Runs quite stable though.
Surprising they aren't doing an RTS
It looks interesting, I will be curious to see how it turns out.
The game will be available on loads of platforms, the lead programmer is a genius!
Windows
Macintosh
Linux (through Wine)
Android
iPhone/iPad
Not going to comment on that one...
lol correct. This is 2015. No excuse for lacking a Linux port.
Dear all,

for your information Retaliation Enemy Mine works on linux in native ( no VM or Wine ).

Will be published for linux?

Depends of requests!

Well, the official site does say "Linux (through Wine)" under 'Platforms'. I'm not a Linux user, but I think they have the same right to game as anyone else :)

My question is: are you planning a GOG release?

Thank you for joining this thread and answering our questions.

xteamsoftware: Snip
Sorry for bumping/flooding/pestering, but I've just realized I have a developer here, so I might as well ask the question that's been bugging me since I first watched the trailer:

How did you manage to make a game 'based on Risk AND Go'? How do you combine the luck/random factor of Risk with the pure strategy no-random-nonsense of Go? Are there many Go players in the development team? I'm really curious because that phrase really caught my attention.
I play Go since over a decade ago, and I stopped playing Risk in my teens because dice rolls would too often be more important than well thought strategies.

Answer the questions of users is a pleasure for me!

NOW Retaliation Enemy Mine runs on Linux (through Wine).
In the official website are included only the platforms where Retaliation currently works 100%.

Other targets currently "work in progress"
- Flash ( 99% complete )
- HTML5 ( 90%, compatible ps4/wii/... )
- Linux ( 60% , engine complete now gfx/sfx/input )
- OUYA ( 90% )
- PSVita ( 75% )
- XBoxLive ( 70% )
- Win8 mobile ( 70% )

We have already submitted Retaliation to GoG staff!

If there are any questions and / or requests, not only to respond but to improve the product!
