I can't see the info on the main page, so heads up here :-) Here's the game.

Of course in order to play it you have to own GOG's base Sword of the Stars: The Pit.

Edit: 'Gold Edition' upgrade is also needed ;-)

Ooops, I still haven't even gotten Juggernaut. This game is way to hard to keep up with.

You also need the Gold Edition.

Oh well, at least it didn't take ages like Juggernaut.

Now you're right. Formerly only the base game (without 'Gold Edition' upgrade) was mentioned, now they both are.

Oh for pity's sake.

I never could get Juggernaut installed properly. Let's just confound this nightmare installation even further, eh?

The solution was pretty simple for me: Just download EVERYTHING again and follow the one and only, correct install order (again) xP
Oh Pit. Part of me wishes they would add another campaign. I still love the characters.
Thanks for the heads-up. But oh well, that means I'm done with Kerberos Productions. I'm not against DLCs per se but I don't like milking customers for additional character and minor changes in the gameplay. Advanced Edition of FTL was added for free and from what I can tell it contained more then three last DLCs for the Pit combined. I'm always willing to pay for an extra campaign, significant changes but a new character, a few items and recipes just won't do.

Ghorpm: Advanced Edition of FTL was added for free
To be fair, Advanced Edition of FTL also premiered on mobile devices, so they could use the positive press and got a truckload of money out of it anyway.

Still, in the end, nobody is entitled to get the work of others for free, and I'm fairly sure that The Pit would not see these updates were it not for DLC model. So if one's happy with the game as it is, one doesn't have to purchase the DLC - if one wants more of it, it's like 2 bucks.

I didn't know that but for me it doesn't matter at all. Every time some upgrade/DLC is given for free we can talk about PR campaign but it's a very nice move nonetheless and I always try to support companies that do that.

I don't expect anyone to give anything for free. As I mentioned above - I always try to show some extra support for nice companies but I don't have any harsh feelings towards anyone who charge extra for expansions. I wouldn't mind paying for FTL upgrade.

My issue with The Pit (and other similar games like Talisman) is that I don't think an extra character is good enough for a DLC. I really loved Mingames DLC because it introduced a very nice mechanics that changed the original game A LOT. Gold upgrade was already disappointing for me and recent DLCs are even worse. But yeah, it's just my personal opinion. I don't like getting a few extra characters. I prefer new stuff (like psi) or preferable a new campaign.

I have the game and some questions :P

1) Why the term "roguelike light"? I heard this one is totally addictive. Why?
2) Controller support?
3) Linux port (not here, I know)? Yay or nay?

Thanks!

1) It's not a rogue-like in the sense that you lose everything when you die. You can store items in lockers, start from every 5th floor, you keep the recipes and messages you find.

I find it addictive because of the new things I can find, create and do every time I play.

2) Yes.

3)I don't know.

At least, it hasn't gotten to The Sims level of installation, but we might get there soon...
