tritone: Back in the day, I bought KotS first and really liked it... until Red Baron came out, and then it consumed all my time. I think I even sold off KotS afterwards and have since regretted it. Seems like I recall really liking the way KotS implemented the map, and being able to navigate by looking down and following the terrain/river/tracks/roads you'd seen on the map. Did I remember this wrong?
Indeed, the features of the landscape were remarkably faithful to the map, although the draw distance was pretty short so there was only so far you could look. Besides, everything looked the same. Even today though, KotS provides an awesome feel of being able to ascend through the clouds, and in fact it's an essential tactic when you're crossing enemy lines to avoid ground fire (I never got shot down when I was above cloud cover, so I assume that's what it was there for).

yyahoo: Because they've stopped releasing the old Microprose games on GOG?
But we don't know it for sure, do we? Moreover we don't know if recent lack of Microprose's releases here is ND' 'fault'. Reasons could be numerous...Maybe it's just not a good time for ND to release their games here now and compete with LA/Warner blockbusters about our money? Or Steam release requires some form/time of exclusivity? Or Microprose's sims doesn't sell well and GOG doesn't make enough money with them?

All in all when a classic game is released on Steam -at least we know it's legal status is clear and chances that it appears here are big. Personally I hope that in a second half of the year GOG will catch up Steam classic releases (Cinemaware, Microprose) a bit.

You bring some interesting suggestions, but I'm not sure if any of them make sense to me, not that I understand what motive Night Dive could have for not releasing the games here at GOG at the same time they're released on Steam... Honestly, I can't make sense of it one way or another.

All I know is that there hasn't been a "Retroism" release on GOG since last September and before Night Dive "partnered" with Tommo, the releases were flowing quite regularly...

Edit: In fact, look at the dates. The last GOG release, Challenge of the Realms, was on September 18, 2014. The news release of the Night Dive/Tommo collaboration that Gragar linked is dated October 9, 2014...

Seriously, I can't even fathom why Tommo and Night Dive are almost actively avoiding GoG. Worst of all, my childhood game Freddi Fish 2 is stuck in the middle of all this. I actually went out and got it on Steam just because I couldn't handle the temptation anymore (# o_o)

I am not gonna give another dollar/pound/euro/shilling to these guys on steam ever again!

You can't know that. In case you haven't been keeping up with current events GOG have just recently signed up Paradox, WB and Disney and have a massive backlog of titles from all three to release. Who says that ND titles aren't simply in the queue somewhere?

It's just my theory. You have yours. I have mine.

yyahoo: It's just my theory. You have yours. I have mine.
I have no theory. Just facts:

1. GOG have a much more limited release capacity than Steam, even if it's increased a lot over the years.
2. 3 major publishers have been signed recently and there's a slew of old titles from all 3 that haven't been released yet.
3. Night Dive have released titles on here already.
4. There's no way of knowing if Night Dive have simply prioritized Steam, whether the games are in GOG's queue or if GOG have rejected the games. There's no indication of anything other than a lack of simultaneous release.
5. The titles have only just appeared on Steam.
6. They've only just fucking been released on Steam.
7. Of course Steam's going to get the titles first, especially given Fact 1.
I don't get it, what is supposed to be funny?

I disagree with the interpretation of some of your facts. It's okay if we disagree, you know...

Just so we're clear, I'm not saying that I think another Microprose title will never appear again on GOG. I'm lamenting the fact that there has not been one released here in the past 6 months. And I definitely disagree that there hasn't been a spot in GOG's release schedule for the games. Also, this isn't just about the titles that were mentioned in the OP. There have been others that have made in onto Steam but not GOG here recently, including Fleet Defender and non-flight simulator games such as Command HQ, Nam, and Eradicator. I find it an odd coincidence that the Tommo/Night Dive collaboration was announced and that after a period of rather regular releases, there are none for 6 months. Could it be a coincidence or for other reasons? Sure. That's just not the theory that I'm buying right now, and it's disappointing to me. {shrug}

Yeah I blame the Night Dive/Retroism/Tommo deal for stuff not finding its way here. Unless I see them on a 1$ charity bundle, I can wait.
Has anyone tried asking Night Dive about the Microprose games on their Facebook page? I remember them saying something about GOG not wanting the Humongous Entertainment games like Freddi Fish, Pajama Sam, Putt-Putt and Spy Fox.

The questions appeared to be ignored when they were asked on Facebook after the Steam exclusive releases of Across the Rhine, Task Force 1942, Command HQ, Eradicator, and Nam.
It's worth noting that Night Dive liked the posts asking about GOG versions. It could be that the decision on whether or not to release those games here is out of their hands.

Or it could be that marketing professionals are taught to like just about any comment made in order to curry favor and make positive impressions (or prevent negative ones) among social network users. Sorry, yeah, I really am that cynical...

Let me play devil's advocate: why is it important these games come to GOG?
