TheMonkofDestiny: Hopefully not a sign that the other SNK DotEmu ports are headed the same route.
If you are really playing on ACTUAL golf courses, it could be a licencing issue back at SNK. SNK licenced the use of these courses and Golf terms and now the time for prolonging the licence has come.

SEGA dropped their Ferrari licence too, even loosing their "Out-Run" franchise. :(

Last chance to buy the game before it is gone...

Looks like it:

Description
"This is a golf game that was first released in 1996. The player picks one of six available golfers and competes on a number of golf courses around the world, including Japan (Fujiyama Oriental Golf Club), America (Grand Canyon Golf Course), Australia (Blue Lagoon Golf Course), and Germany (Baden Golf Course)."
We desperately need games like Leader Board Golf and so on...
Intellectual rights to video games have to be seriously reworked worldwide: the IP holders should have their percent for life out of game price. I hate when we can't play games because of music, franchise or other specific licensing rights expiration.

I know it's a bit Utopian approach but still I hate that we can't play for example Dune 2 legally because Herbert junior thinks it's not worth it.

Shouldn't be. Apparently the courses are real licensed courses. At least one or two of them.

chandra: Due to expiring licensing rights, NEO TURF MASTERS will be delisted from our catalog on Friday, August 9, 1pm UTC.

For everyone who purchased it prior to delisting, the game will remain in their GOG library.
Hey... this post didn't show up in my activity feed. :'( Did something change with that? :) (That way I like to keep track on topics like these as well).

I still hope it shows up here one day. There has been some movement in the recent past:

New games coming so... maybe the old games will be revived as well! *keeps hoping*

Yeah, I just read the other responses about it. Otherwise sucks that this piece of the SNK games that are available has to go away, however.

I wonder how long it'll stay up on the Humble Store though.
bet thats why we dnt have any soccer or golf games cos of lisences but even so the old pro evo games didnt ha ve any stadium, players or e ven team names lisenced, id love to see some golf games here though maybe 3d ultra mini golf think it came out in 1997

Cadaver747: Utopian approach
You've said it all. Sadly I know but... yep it's true.

If they made a Happy Gilmore simulator i'd buy it.

I also think this would be good....and I think we need to get LIFETIME contracts for music/other assets put in games.....no expiring bullsh*t.

Nice, I was looking for a retro golf game (there are exactly ZERO golf games on GOG, WTF), only to find out they've had to remove Neo Turf Masters last year. Just effin' great.

I can understand your frustration. A couple of months ago I bothered to go to steam and search for golf games. I was amazed how I couldn't even find half a dozen of them. Which is sort of weird because some 20 years ago you'd have plenty of golf games on PC.

Yeah, it's really sad. There are a few "weird" (mini)golf games that are seemingly quite popular, but I'm not interested in that. The only minigolf one I really loved was Sierra 3-D Ultra Minigolf from 1997.

And I'm not even an ultra golf fan, but I would really love to play a proper oldschool golf game with sprites, pixelated graphics, chill music etc.

EDIT: I could always sail the high seas and get those games there, of course, but that's not the point.

Unfortunately - for those who want to play great golf games - I fear that the best bet still remains the abandonware sites.
