All upvoting / downvoting does is attrack trolls, plus it's a cop out for mods, . let the community decide what's good and bad.

I chat in an Arsenal FC forum, I said to the devs remove the voting buttons for a test, they did, and they are still removed, everyobe gets on. the trolls are gone.

remove rep

Cavenagh: Rep should be based on the amount of games bought on GOG, not spamming the forums, word association for example.
So you're saying rep should be some kind of exclusive rich people club type thing? :P

Yeah that sounded a little dubious to me too. :P Another problem is NES probably has more games than the majority of us, he just hasn't actually bought any of them.

Wouldn't it make more sense to simply unlink reputation from activity? Basically keep the post count/ forum activity counter, and use a separate system for post rating? In theory a rating system has its advantages, maybe they just need to find a way to make it harder to abuse the system. Make the names of up/down-voters public, in example. That would quickly make it obvious, if the same person(s) go around down-voting everyone.

was just a suggestion, people who bought games on GOG [invested] , but I've decided that rep should be removed altogther.

That would imply he's smarter than the average GOG user, if he still manages to grab freebies from others... :P

true, didn't think of that. I'm all for removing rep now. esp seeing TinyE rep go up and down like a whores knickers [does talk a lot of shit at times :P ]

Somebody could put a list together, seeing as there aren't really more than a couple hundred or so reputable members in this forum anyway.

What if i told you that the parasite has an account that he posts daily some gibberish and no one suspects a thing, he even got some games without asking for it? Sure, it would be harder to make multiple accounts and say dumb shit everyday just to fake participation on the but still possible.

You can make a new account in less than a minute so the names of the people that downvoted you would be adsae3q4, adsdwqsda321, sfgderwte. cvxgfttw34. dfdggwt535. etc.
at the end of the day, if someone likes me that's good, if not who gives a feck. [I don't]

I do, i can't post links without quoting someone (or faking a quote) and even then there's some bugs where i need to remove the links from the person that i quoted.
Besides it also shows that gog doesn't give a fuck about me or anyone else affect with this problem.

Uh-oh. Didn't see that one coming. This could prove problematic for my giveaway if I'm not careful...

There's workarounds, it's just annoying to have to do those.
