paladin181: If you like hack-and-slasher, God of War is great too. And if you're a fan of the Batman Arkham series, Spiderman is also pretty damn great.
God of War does look great. What's a good price for a PS4 these days?

$200-$250,

And I just started playing God of War again last night. It's is still incredibly fun. :D

Can you play all of the God of War games on PS4?
low rated

richlind33: Yes, this is a game thread! :o

Here's what I need your input on: is The Last Of Us good enough to warrant getting a Playstation?

Is there anything as good on PC?

Thanks.
Last of Us is very good if you like end of the world games/media and a more story driven game with some minor stat upgrades along the way.

I liked it, fwiw, and would replay it in the future again(Also the addon is also good, albeit with less gunplay).

Linko64: Dropping nearly 300 just for the Last Of Us is not something I'd recommend, even more so in the dead of summer, wait till the Xmas deals rock up.

As for things like it on PC,

There's A Plague Tale - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4FOb16Nenk

And STALKER...everyone should play STALKER...any reason to mention it even when no relevant
1. I think OP meant the PS3...one can get one for around 120 bucks or so iirc.

2. Stalker? Don't you mean metro? ;)

Linko64: Nah, first person. I just take any chance to preach the word of the zone i can ;)

The recent Resident Evil 2 remake could be something worth looking into to. Not strictly like The Last of Us, but a fair few similar beats. Plus it's just a great game.

richlind33: I have to admit that I've fallen in love with Claire Redfield in white lingerie. lol
avatar
Cadaver747: It's a great game, but not great enough for buying a PS4, definitely not worthy for a PS3. I haven't seen anything similar on PC. I think that it's better to wait till PS5 come around, Sony loves to port their best selling games with enhancement visuals/textures.

But there is another great game called God of War (2018) this game worth every bit of powered PS4 Pro. It's a standalone sequel to the series of games, playing originals is not required.

richlind33: When does the PS5 drop?
1. Is she really in such in the game? If so i'd think the activists would've rioted and burned down the dev studios.

2. Why buy PS5 when it comes out if it has little games(new or exclusive) at the time? Also new consoles usually have better "versions" with less bugs and better hardware/storage space about a year or so after initial launch.

There are hints that the PS5 will support PS4 blurays so I wouldn't be surprised if you bought a PS4 The Last of Us remastered disc that it'll be able to run on a PS5 by the time that comes out. If all of this turns out true when more info is released then it may be worth buying a PS5 instead, with the added benefit of being able to also play The Last of Us 2 and whatever other games that may interest you. Maybe this is already confirmed, I haven't looked into it that much.

In short, I'd wait.

It's a mod. And quite a nice one.

That's a 2 year wait because I wouldn't buy it on release. I almost never buy on release.

If you have a PS Now subscription, GoW 1, 2, 3 and the 2 PSP titles are available. You can buy GoW3 remastered for $20, But you have to subscribe to their $20/mo ($8.33/,month if you pay for a year subscription) service to access the older titles. Pretty shitty move by Sony to paywall some of their great classic titles, but that's where we are atm. REALLY shitty considering I have the PS3 collections and would really love to play them again. Need to buy a cheap PS3 for my gaming pleasure so I don't lose all my classic PS3 titles since Sony basically gave me the middle finger and says "Buy them again!" and then won't sell most of them outright!!

I figured as much.....o.0
Depending on your resources, the PS4 is a good buy. There are plenty of absolutely great games on the system. With that said, prices on the PS4 will fall dramatically after the PS5 is officially announced. If I were you, I'd wait until then. Now, as for The Last of Us...

The Last of Us is a well-told story, but the game is often frustrating, scenes are uneven, and gameplay is mediocre at best. While I'm glad to have played it, it's not high on my list of games I'd care to revisit... and I have zero interest in TLOU2. But then I haven't enjoyed Naughty Dog's work since Uncharted 3 (Uncharted 4 is terrible BTW).

Mechanically, I'd prefer Days Gone... and story-wise I'd prefer God of War.

This is why greed is considered sin: the more you get, the more you want, until eventually you go mad.

Madness is a terrible way to die. The worst.

Never buy a console for just one game.

What about buying it for a couple games and the eventual games that will be added later/backwards compatibility/other features? :)

I'd hedge my bets on a price drop, seeing as the next consoles are going to be due in soon enough. And then I'd buy a Switch anyway.
