GameRager: Agreed, but on the other hand I also think even the poorest deserve some form of entertainment(of any sort).

TARFU: "deserve"?

ooh...yeah...um, I'm going to go ahead and sort of disagree with you there. Yeah, no one really "deserves" anything or is entitled to "free stuff", especially from a company that is trying to make money so it can continue to bring us DRM-free games. Free games are nice once in a while but as always, tanstaafl.
No one deserves ANYTHING? Like literally? So no one deserves things like the freedoms in the bill of rights, or just to be happy every once an awhile?

By deserve free entertainment I meant anything.....like maybe such things as a game of makeshift stickball, or the ability to checkout a good book at a library, or even to hear a good joke in passing on the street......I wasn't trying to say we should give games away for free all the time on this site/others.

Often, it's the poorest who are in most need of some entertainment/cheering up in life, and they deserve a little distraction from life's bad times/woes(again imo).

wasp08: Most of the games that it would be feasible to give away are already cheap. I don't mean to sound unkind, but if you can't afford five bucks or less in a sale, then you have more pressing issues than purchasing videogames.

And if it's video games that are their passion for entertainment, they can get a ton of free games from several legal sources. There's absolutely no need to go begging GOG to put more games up for free. If the OP just grabbed free games from all the places that offer them, while also watching for others to pop up, they'd have enough games to play for years.

By my comment I wasn't advocating for GOG to fulfill OP's request, and you're right about the free games online being plentiful if one knows where to look.

Apologies if my post seemed to imply you were saying that, it wasn't my intent. It's just a general response to the comment many people make about those in poorer circumstances deserving some kind of entertainment. I actually agree with that, but free entertainment is easy to find.

Agreed, it is easy to find if one puts some time/effort into seeking it out.

If I had the money/pull, though, i'd like to also see older/classic games being given to some poorer people to give them more forms of entertainment/introduce them to various series(sort of like a public library, but for games).

Lot to unpack there. Don't want to get into a discussion about this stuff on a game forum. Another time, another place.

A simple "you're wrong/you're right but let's not continue this" would've also sufficed and been less vague. 0.o ;)

But I agree....if you ever want to talk about this a bit you know where to find me(PM/email/etc). :)

tinyE: smart post...
Ah, come on. That formula is incomplete! When you bother to write the entire Lagrangian in line-style instead of using matrices, you should at least also include the tau interaction terms. Not just the muons and neutrinos. Sure, the tau have a very short life-time and a high mass and therefore don't contribute in the low-energy region. But if you go for completeness, you might as well go all the way!
I know i have forgotten tons of games but the freebies i remember most that GOG has given away are Shadow Warrior 2, Starcrawlers, SOMA, Full Throttle Remastered, Neverwinter Nights Diamond, Distraint Deluxe etc

Not sure if I should enter this can of worms...
How and when "being poor" started to be a internet excuse?

Before I being accused of being mean, I´m not rich and don't spend a lot of money on games, have other priorities. But with the "free to play" market as today that don´t make much sense, I guess. More games are available than I´m able to play in a life time.
Not even need to know where to search for good free games, a 5 minute internet search gives dozens of lists and places to get them.
I guess what I mean is, even if I wouldn´t be able to play ever single AAA title on release, I have more free games to play that i´m able. Maybe that´s why my steam account has so many games but so little are played.

GoG could indeed do with more free games, but not giveaways IMHO, like Battle for Wesnoth, Super crate box etc, not even asking for the original Spelunky :D

I don't think GOG should ever give away any more free games, because all that seems to accomplish is to cost GOG money, and yet it gives GOG no benefit. Just look at the 10th Anniversary when they gave away Shadow Warrior 2 for free, which was a high value game.

That sure didn't seem to help GOG grow their userbase or increase their sales at all.

But how much did it cost GOG to offer that free game?

Why are doing things like that worth the cost to GOG?

Most of us advocating for such(or me at the very least) want the poor to be able to have ANY form of entertainment.....not necessarily AAA games but freeware games or even just physical forms of irl entertainment.
