GameRager: Sounds good until you figure out the motel owner is probably sniffing your packets as you surf. :\
You do know I'm an innkeeper, right? :P

Innkeepers are usually(from what i've seen on movies) dirty old men(who are also slobs) or crazed psychopaths. Which are YOU, I wonder?!? o.0

SpiritOf1972: As the heading says GOG you need more FREE Games. Epic give away a free game every 2 weeks. Im not even asking for games like The Witness and Subnautica but after older retro games like The Dig or Simon The Sorcerer. Broken Sword etc. I like graphical Point and Click Adventure titles which I know are cheep but im poor so . Just give us more free games please :)
All the free games and gifts are more or less what destroyed the community. It's still OK, but a faint shadow of what it once was. It even got to the point where they've had to admit that moderation was necessary.

Also, if you're poor, I can totally relate,, there are tons of genuine freeware and shareware games out there from olden times that are great. Not nautical enthusiasm required.

Note to self: If ever staying at Tiny's motel/inn, don't take a shower.

Sounds like all of the above describes TinyE...

1. You could also say it bolstered the community by bringing in some actually nice people along with the freeloaders. Also, saying the forums are much worse now is(imo) stretching it just a bit. There were some shady types back when the forums first started as well as spammers/scammers, just like now.

As for moderation: I think they also started doing it both to placate the ones making the biggest complaints/as a gesture of goodwill & also for good PR(in the eyes of newcomers/oldtimers).

2. Agreed on the last bit wholeheartedly. :)
I wonder what OP meant by "expansions" in the thread title!!!
Was GOG giving away free expansions?

Anyway, GOG does giveaway a lot of games all year around, in my opinion.
Also I would prefer if GOG provides bonus games based on how much one purchases during sales, as they have done a few times.

Adding more old freeware games, if they can manage that, would be great though.
If anyone have not yet played Beneath a Steel Sky, it is available for free.

1. I guess they were complaining(as others do) about GOG mainly releasing dlc/expansions for newer games/older titles lately, instead of classic games.

As for free expansions: Some older games have some free expansions....the catch is that you have to BUY the main game first. ;)

2. Such incentives are nice, I agree, and always welcomed by me.

3. BASS is getting a sequel, I believe. There is a thread in general forums, at any rate.

wolfsite: Quote was too big but this is a reply for GameRager

Canada has done a lot of technical work with NASA and the ISS such as the Canadarm which helped build the station and the station has the Canadarm2 for more advanced work.
avatar
GameRager: Well yeah they did that...but then why is your money having astronauts on it instead of robotic arms? ;D
Actually a space shuttle with the arm is in the picture along with the ISS, I was generalizing the image since it was originally just a funny comment from TinyE

https://www.gog.com/games?page=1&sort=popularity&price=free

When you search for free products on the store pages, most results will be DLCs.

Well that sounds apropos then. :)
Most of the games that it would be feasible to give away are already cheap. I don't mean to sound unkind, but if you can't afford five bucks or less in a sale, then you have more pressing issues than purchasing videogames.

Agreed, but on the other hand I also think even the poorest deserve some form of entertainment(of any sort).

"deserve"?

ooh...yeah...um, I'm going to go ahead and sort of disagree with you there. Yeah, no one really "deserves" anything or is entitled to "free stuff", especially from a company that is trying to make money so it can continue to bring us DRM-free games. Free games are nice once in a while but as always, tanstaafl.
