And one day I hope it'll be down to zero :)

These are mainly DOS games which to my knowledge haven't been made available for digital distribution in any way, shape or form yet, but which will be pretty much instabuys for me when they do arrive.

They're all beloved games from my childhood (I'm 32 now), and due to their current lack of legal digital availability (shareware notwithstanding) they've been acquired using less than legitimate means, something I hope to rectify in the future.

What do you reckon, a solid list? Are you keen to see any of these on GOG in the future?

Doesn't Blizzard have BlackThorne, Lost Vikings and Rock 'n' Roll Racing available at their website for free? And Daggerfall / Arena are (or were) available free from Bethesda. Sango Fighter went freeware a few years back. - http://www.sangofighter.com/download.htm

And One Must Fall was declared freeware by the devs.

And GOG already sells Mortal Kombat (in a pack with 2+3) and Leisure Suit Larry (in a pack with the other games.)

Ha I have a feeling smarter minds than mine are going to school me as to the availability of some of these titles.

But yes, I should clarify that I know some of these have been made available or gone freeware (that's why I used the word mainly, but rereading it was a bit unclear what I meant). The Elder Scrolls, and Blizzard titles being the obvious ones. I'd still like to see them come to GOG for the sake of consistency/convenience/one-stop-shopiness though, and because to my mind GOG is still Good Old Games.

I wasn't aware OMF and Sango had been opened up. Thanks!

I think R&R Racing is just a demo.

Strip Poker III. I have fond memories of that one too. ;-)

Yes a lot of those games would be awesome to have come out here. However, I don't think the market is big enough to justify the expense and hassle of obtaining the rights to many of these games. Some of them are so tied up in legal quagmires where no one is sure who actually owns the rights to the game, and the time and legal fees required to find out far outweighs any potential financial gain.

For this reason, I think the best chance to fully legally see these games made available is to put effort into some sort of non-profit organization that could take donations or somesuch to lobby government and enable changes to copyright laws regarding items which no entity makes effort to claim ownership rights.

Well, there's no chance in hell that Elder Scrolls will ever pop up here. ZeniMax Media despises anything DRM-free. What do you expect out of a company owned by lawyers...
I thought the pirate bay was down ?

It's in a ZSNES wrapper too I believe
Abuse has been available for free for a while now -- it's available on Desura, but there are probably other places you can download it too.

haha I was wondering when someone would notice that one. To be fair to my Dad, he did try and hide it in an obscure folder.
Ah, Kami. We hardly knew you.

I agree and I understand there would be a monumental amount of wrangling involved to get some of these titles up for sale. Mechwarrior 2, in particular seems to be at the centre of almost System Shock/No One Lives Forever levels of rights uncertainty. Still, I live in hope. Naive, earnest hope.

And looking at that screenshot, Stargunner's available, for free, here on GOG.
