I like indie games as much as the next person, I buy a ton of bundles through various sites, but can we get more actual Good Old Games on sale?

I mean this is GoG, why is this summer sale so fixated on indie games. Right now if you look at the highlights section on the front page, one game is an actual old game. The other 7 are relatively new. It doesn't get much better when you actually go down the page either.

I love GoG, and have bought a lot of games here. Though when I hear of a GoG sale, I think of great games of my past being on sale. Now it seems like all we see are indie games.

Anyways, thanks for the sale and I'm not trying to sound mean or rude or anything like that. Just would love to see more GoG games on sale. There are so many franchises on here that don't go on sale or so rarely are on sale. Lets see some of those.
Those highlights change every day. Is it such a big deal if one happens to be full of indies?
What's wrong with indie games? GOG has
, [url=http://www.gog.com/game/legend_of_grimrock]Legend of Grimrock, and Trine!

Or how about indie retro games like Freedom Planet and Shovel Knight?
I haven't noticed an Indie bias. Almost half my purchases this sale have been for games 10 years or older.

Great polite question; hopefully the responses aren't too toxic. I felt the very same way for probably over a year until Disney finally showed up with the LucasArts classics. :)

From what I could tell, GOG would love to bring many more Good Old Games here (assuming sales would be good), but there can often be problems with rights or compatibility issues or pubs/devs that have a problem with DRM-free or other.

It's often easier to bring indie games (which still seem to sell reasonably well) which is why so many more are released here.

We have been getting at least one good old game a week (from what I can tell), however:

I about had a heart attack when the Lucas Arts game got brought over, and I'll die if they every bring the rest of the Starfleet command series over (please get me a working multiverse SFCIII). Though lets not forget that Steam also got these games. Gog just does a way better job, again in my opinion, of making them run well and keeping them updated.

That is kinda my point though, the above games are the games that should be on sale in my opinion. Not all the games that are on sale every other week on various sites. Just about every indie game that is on sale so far has been apart of a bundle, for sale here before or another website, or is on a steam sale every week.

I guess I'm just hopping that one of these days or nights I'll log in to find some of the big franchises on sale. Get those Star Wars on sale, get some of the other big ones on sale. Though I doubt the SW ones will go on sale.

Again, not trying to say the sell sucks or that it isn't a good thing for some people. Just saying I wish, for me, it was a better sale.

Oh okay I missed your point. I don't really have any defense for what they chose or were able to put on sale, other than GOG also has to negotiate with devs and pubs to put things on sale, and new-ish-ly-released games (like some of the Star Wars games or Star Trek titles) don't get put on sale until months after initial release, generally.

If only it would go on sale!!!
They won't put any newly released games on sale. You normally have to wait for a while before that happens.

Just wait for the steam summer sale this coming week. Shovel Knight will go on sale.
I disagree. I rather buy also indie games from GOG, instead of e.g. Desura where they now cost something like $999.999.999 or so for some reason. I buy both older classics and newer games from GOG, and hope they both go to sales.

Checking what I've bought during the Summer Sales, most actually are older classics, or at least remakes of them (e.g. the Ys series, Wings Remastered, Majesty HD, Shadowgate etc.).

High prices there because site is likely to go under and devs are probably not going to see a cent of that money if anyone were to buy their game in Desura.

If you do an AAA or old game sale it would be a one day sale because there aren't enough games to be put on sale and people to buy them. What older game hasn't been discounted yet in a past sale?

I like gog, and not trying to bash it, but most of the indie games GoG puts on sale are higher price than you can get them at other sites. For example the Back to the Future was on sale here for 0.50$ more here than it was last week during Humble Bundles store sale.

Let me reiterate that I have no issues with Gog selling Indie games or even putting them on sale. The issue I have is when the majority of a sale consist of Indie games and new games on a site that was developed, and claims to still be, about old games.

Maybe I'm just skewed in thinking something that is 10 years old, which is a lot of what they are doing now, isn't a "good old game". Most of those take little to no effort to run on modern PCs. Games like Castles 1&2, Red Baron, Syndicate, are the games that brought people like me to this website years ago and after being introduced to GoG I had found many games from the 90's that at the time I hadn't even heard of. Like Kings of Dragon Pass. A very fun game.
