Modding is...
It's one of the things that defines PC gaming – keeping our favorite games alive (and better!), bringing us together as a community, a way to explore our passions, sometimes an open door into the industry of our dreams.

So it only stands to reason that Nexus Mods – the biggest, most active modding network out there right now – has a very special place in our hearts… The Nexus Mods site has just undergone a huge redesign and we took the occasion to say thanks to the PC gaming community together!
Check out the letter to the community below, and drop by /r/PCMasterRace to enter the massive Game & Gear giveaway where you can win from among $3,000 worth of GOG.com games, as well as hardware and gear from MSI and CORSAIR!

One more thing, from all of us to you: stay great, stay passionate, and keep modding on! <3

A message from Nexus Mods

In celebration of our new site design, we have teamed up with GOG.com, MSI, Corsair, and PCMasterRace to share our love for PC gaming worldwide through a massive giveaway! Before we get into the juicy details though, I wanted to take a quick trip down memory lane and look at some of the previous designs we've used at Nexus Mods before reaching this point.

See the news for more

Throughout all the various names and aesthetics of this site, our community has always been a driving force in our success. It is your passion and dedication that keeps us going and allows us to continue growing. Which brings me to the point of this little stroll down memory lane!

As I mentioned at the start, we have joined forces with some great companies in the gaming world to bring you a chance to win some incredible loot. We feel we've picked companies that shared a similar mindset to our own.

The folks over at GOG.com were immediately on board with the cooperation. Modding wouldn't be possible without the freedom to do what you want with the games you own, and it's a great way to get involved and explore your passion for gaming. These are ideas both GOG and Nexus Mods very firmly believe in.

Similarly, CORSAIR and MSI were both excited to work with us and have made offerings that are more than generous. CORSAIR is offering a full peripheral set to bring glory to your gaming setup, and MSI wants to help bring your system into the modern age with a few serious hardware upgrades.

Finally, we have decided to host the event on the PCMasterRace subreddit to reach an even bigger audience of PC gaming enthusiasts. Modding is a hobby with its roots dating back to some of the earliest PC games. While the use of mods has recently opened up to other platforms, on no other platform can you dig into a game's engine and bend it to your will like you can on the PC, and the PCMasterRace subreddit is chock full of posts that elevate our favorite platform.

This is more than just a celebration of our new design. It is a celebration of modding and PC gaming as well!

Thank you for all your support over the years. We look forward to providing a place to share and discuss mods for many more years to come. Head on over and enter the contest for your shot at some glorious prizes!

nightcraw1er.488: Not sure what the problem is. Gog is one of the people adding things to the pile, why do I need to create some account on a third party site which has nothing to do with the giveaway to enter a competition from a site I do use? If non gog users want to enter they have Facebook or twitter or one of the other options there to do so. Why does every give away have these requirements, totally uncessary, they could just include an enter as gog user, simple.

adaliabooks: The point is that the reason companies donate prize to something like this is for marketing, to attract new customers. We get tonnes of freebies all the time for being GOG members. This is a way to bring new people in and let them know GOG exists.

It's not like you're missing out on a guaranteed free game, it's just a competition.
Do we, only free stuff I ever see is games brought years ago. Not interested in what it is anyway, as far as I can tell this Reddit thing is nothing to do with the competition, and if they are so interested in getting new customers why bother posting it as news here. You can't have it every way. Just another nice big banner across the top of the forum with the words feck you long time customers, signup to the modern day spyware social media or be excluded. Hence the irony part from their post about being open.
Another GOG contest?

Are we ever going to get the results of the Jailhouse Stock Contest?

It was "pretty much next on the list" back in January.

Nothing in the rules that says it's not:

The rules do stress the reddit connection and comment though.

Wait, they ran a contest based on a game with an open and editable save file where one could modify the results, save it and post the modified numbers? Seriously?

I don't use reddit, so I didn't even look at the prizes. The only game I don't own is D:OS 2, and Larian didn't support Linux for it, so I don't want it. I don't own or want a desktop, so the only prize worth joining for is the peripheral set. I don't want the peripheral set bad enough to bother joining reddit.

I don't use Reddit, but from what I saw it doesn't look like a bad community. It is a good way of spreading the word about GOG to possible new members, which is good for us in the long run.

Because if they didn't we would have other users with the same... penchant you have for being heard when they feel they're being slighted, with just a different complaint. Imagine one or more threads filled with posts like these:
Hey I just saw that GOG is making a giveaway for more than a hundred games, but it hasn't said a word to us! They don't want us to participate
WTF GOG! That's how you treat your loyal customers? You don't care about us at all !!!1!!one!
They hate us, I hate them now! I'm totally going back to Steam! Gaben knows how to make me feel a valued customer
Would you really want to see that crap?

Ah, I see, pointing out some information which isn't forthcoming in the official post mentioned above is being slighted. I see.

" If you are a winner of the competition, you agree that the Promoter may use your name and image and/or other provided personal information to announce the winner(s) of this competition and for any other reasonable and related promotional purposes without any payment to you. "

Image? Why would they post images of people that win? Hell, even posting a name is pushing limits, unless they mean some social media nickname. Oh wait, it also states have to use your actual name, just like fb...

"Limitation of liability: Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner(s) or runner(s)-up or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, "

That's....bizarre!

Keep up the good work GOG & Nexus. Thank you for the completely optional giveaway.
Thanks, but no thanks as Reddit is of no interest.Forcing people to join another forum/site is slightly unfair.Thankyou.
I don't care about reddit. I don't care about the giveaway. I do however care about modding (especially for Bethesda games) so... Hm... Actually... Yeah... Unless I somehow skipped a line, this news article only seems to be about promotions and a raffle.

Nothing has changed.

"Congrats to the 114 winners from the future!" I suppose.
Nice giveaway and look at all those shinies! *bling bling*

What? A free promotional offer that is not custom tailored to my exact needs and internet habits? Outrageous!! Why should I have to make any concessions, no matter how small, just for a chance to get something for free? I mean, paying some of my hard earned money for a game is one thing, but having to create an account on some other website for an optional promotion? That goes way too far!!!!
