Sneaky? Sneakier? the Sneakiest? Thief!

Want to enhance your Thief™ experience? Well, GOG.com, yours truly, has prepared a guide to some of the most common community-created mods to upgrade your Thief experience with higher resolution, better textures and many new missions. The beautiful Thief community deserves a lot of praise for the hard work they’d put in making those modifications possible. Congratulations from GOG.com.

<span class="bold">THIEF&trade; GOLD all-in-one fix

- DDfix: fixes issues with modern graphics hardware, fixes cutscenes, prevents some crashes and errors, changes the hardcoded resolution for menu screen.
- Thief Enhancement Pack: a lot of improved models & textures
- Other small fixes
Note: to avoid any problems it is advised not to install the game in a protected Win folder (like /Program Files or /Windows)

If you feel like THIEF GOLD is too easy (i.e. you're clearly Garrett), you can also try the Ultimate Difficulty Mod.

Our legal kobolds advise us that we need to tell you that we aren’t responsible for any damage, loss of data, or Chuck Testa that may happen to your computer as a result of trying out these mods. Back up all your saves, back up your backups, and strap yourselves in for some awesome sneaking action!
Thief 2X: Shadows of the Metal Age is an incredible mod. It's produced at a professional studio quality. I highly recommend it.
Thanks really usuful.

Any chance of doing this for some of the other games?
T2X: Shadows of the Metal Age is the best thing fans of any game ever made. I highly recommend it :)

SimpleUser, I don't think there are any other games on GOG which had such a healthy mod scene as the Thief community.

They've done this for years. Unreal, Duke 3D, Postal 2 and Blood come to mind. Look em up, they're neat.
high rated
The "Mod Spotlights" should be stickyed in the relevant forums. Or at least mentioned on the gamepage.

Even though I typically don't use said mods, I totally agree. More options is always a good thing.

That's not a bad idea. I'll think about it.

[meme]Make easily available ALL the useful game links, mods, etc! [/meme]

Boy that was a stretch...

Anyway, help people out and take some of the pressure off support. ;) (Assuming they're really busy with other things and not just busy doing coke. You guys aren't EA. ;)

For the time being it is on the Wiki. As are all mod spotlights, under the "modding section" on the corresponding game pages.

Wiki 1, GOG 0 ;-P

Sure, but most forums already have one stickied thread; do I really want to add another?

Such decisions keep me up at night. 0.o

Especially when stickied threads seem to bug up the forums and hide other threads :-P

Unless that bug's been fixed, haven't bothered checking in a while.

I think the occasional second stickied threat will not cause an uproar in the community. But two out of the first four posters here in this thread didn't knew GOG does this regularely. So either make them more visible on the game forums, or even better, on the game page itself. So people might just have another incentive to buy the game.

Of course we also have the community wiki. Which was originally created to collect information on a game in a way that wasn't possible on the forums. The added a layer of seperation from your official site made it possible to post links without you getting in trouble and create pages with swearwords. (and to help you sleep at night, of course).

You could, btw, make a community spotlight. I think you are the only heartless moneygrabbing distribution service out there, that has such a dedicated community. That spotlight could cover the wiki, the multlanguage thread, the community thead about mac compatibility, the DVD covers, the GOG plugin for browser etc. That way you would get the attention of people that rarely visit the forums and only do it if they have a problem. And you would show the world that it pays to be "the good guy".
Freddo, the mod scene for the Infinity Engine games would beg to disagree. The Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale games have a huge and still active mod community.
Neverwinter Nights is another game that could really benefit from a post like this, since user-created content was one of the points of that game.
