Sneaky? Sneakier? the Sneakiest? Thief!

Want to enhance your Thief™ experience? Well, GOG.com, yours truly, has prepared a guide to some of the most common community-created mods to upgrade your Thief experience with higher resolution, better textures and many new missions. The beautiful Thief community deserves a lot of praise for the hard work they’d put in making those modifications possible. Congratulations from GOG.com.

<span class="bold">THIEF&trade; GOLD all-in-one fix
Our user voodoo47 (thanks!) has prepared a nice little package with most important graphics fixes, prepared by many Thief modders. here. This package contains:
- DDfix: fixes issues with modern graphics hardware, fixes cutscenes, prevents some crashes and errors, changes the hardcoded resolution for menu screen.
- Thief Enhancement Pack: a lot of improved models & textures
- Other small fixes
Note: to avoid any problems it is advised not to install the game in a protected Win folder (like /Program Files or /Windows)

If you feel like THIEF GOLD is too easy (i.e. you're clearly Garrett), you can also try the Ultimate Difficulty Mod.

Taarkoth: Neverwinter Nights is another game that could really benefit from a post like this, since user-created content was one of the points of that game.

You see that Mr. EnigmaticT?!

I rest my case

Gotta make money to stay in business. :P I just want GOG to seriously test their games before releasing them, making darn sure they run on Win7. :)

I was making a joke, I thought that was obvious? ;-)

And I don't think GOG games aren't tested enough. You can go on just about every gaming forum and find people having problems with their games. One of the drawbacks of pc gaming with literally hundreds and thousand of hardware possibilities.

Windows 7 is by far the most stable windows so far(imo). Windows 95 games certainly weren't running smoother 15 years ago. I would argue you could cut about a third of all W7 complains if people used admin rights and didn't install in Programm files.

Lol, I guess it should've been. X) It was in with all that other seriousness, though.

Fair enough. I'm using currently using XP (on an almost 8 year old machine that was beastin' back in '04 ;)), but my next machine, when I out of college, will presumably have Win7, unless Win8 is out and running well.

I would argue you could cut about a third of all W7 complains if people used admin rights and didn't install in Program files.
That almost sounds neat to me in a way, I guess because it's one less third that lies on GOG's end. ;)
Just my 2 cents, but... Here's one more vote for making official GOG mod spotlights visible on the main game page.

I'd also like it if users could contribute to a mod section for each game - either right on the game page, or via a link from the game page to a dedicated game mod section. Right now there is a great deal of knowledge out in the GOG community re available mods, and I'd like it if a mechanism like this were put in place to make that more accessible.

The idea could be dressed up - you could add upvotes and downvotes, for example - or kept really simple. I know some users already provide mod information in game review comments, but the game review comments aren't really intended for this purpose and a dedicated section would be an improvement, if possible.

Well, we have the wiki, which is open for everybody to participate ;-)

*nudge*, *nudge*
you know what would be REALLY awesome?

If the mods could remove the first and second Thief game from the wishlist...

I've no problem with using the wiki, but as a gog user of some time at least, I hadn't heard of it. You know why I hadn't heard of it? Because the wiki isn't referred to on the game pages either.
I believe each game page should have also "Mods" section listing the most popular and well made mods for the game, for example Fallout 2 restoration pack is practically a must for me now, same goes with other games

Yes, i agree
The wishlist needs some serious Moderation and upcleaning
There are stuff in there that arent even games, and evrytime i se a new completly unrelated wishlist add thats not a game i lose a bit more faith in humanity, sigh.

And why on earth is people voting for games that can probably never be here?!
CS (Counter-Strike: Source) is owned by valve
and valve is steam.
The chances of it getting here is microscopic.

My favourite entry still remains "Oh yeah baby, Fuck me harder"

SimonG: The "Mod Spotlights" should be stickyed in the relevant forums. Or at least mentioned on the gamepage.
Indeed. I can find easily this topic in game's sub forum when bought or I need.

TheEnigmaticT: Sure, but most forums already have one stickied thread; do I really want to add another?

Such decisions keep me up at night. 0.o
One or the other is fine. Whichever is better. Absolutely though they should be included on game pages, and prominently.

For Russian fans please add these huge fan-site link - http://darkfate.org/
As far as including links on game pages, that''s been done, with Planescape: Torment, and I agree that it was very convenient. So I definitely support doing that.
