tyl0413: I already bought it once and played it, it's not about me, imagine missing the point this hard.
Might as well shut GOG down as it's all just old games everyone already owns and has played.
Why would anyone ever want to buy and play old games anyways amirite?
avatar
BreOl72: Well, you know - at some point, people who are keen on playing old games, need to make an investment.
You say you did it - I did it, too.

And for everybody else: consoles are a thing, you know? So is Ebay and other (online) used markets.

What you say? "But some people would rather have it on PC", you say?
Well, then these people should have made their investment in time (btw: it is still time for that).

HunchBluntley: Good thing no new people have been born, grown up, and gotten into video gaming for the first time in the last decade and a half. And even if some had, they could've just jacked into the Videogame Hive-Mind like a normal person, and instantly gained knowledge of every game that was ever made, even from before they started to become aware of games. But that's all just a pointless hypothetical, because, like I said, everyone who's really into video games now was into them back then. So, like you implied, they have only their stupid, lazy selves to blame.

BreOl72: See above.
...I mean, I don't know why you tagged me on that comment. We're clearly in agreement!

tyl0413: [...] console [...]
Good you're not trying to buy one now because you can't get any of them anymore.
Could you please elaborate on which consoles I can't buy anymore?
Looks like someone came to their senses and have removed Mirror's Edge from this delisting newsletter.
I thought it was weird that they included delisting Mirror's Edge under a headline of Battlefield Legacy, glad to see it was an error.
I guess since it was just MP dlc, this is goodbye to Battlefield Bad Company II Vietnam. Sad.

.Keys: Mirror's Edge does indeed have a internet / server implementation for a a Time Attack mode where you share your Speed Running times through levels with a server and friends through an online learderboard.

AB2012: Edit: Looks like it was a mistake at EA's end.
The real mistake is them removing any games though.
Community around Battlefield is huge. There will be many 'protests' I assume.

I can't think of any that you wouldn't be able to get at all now, but they can be effectively out of reach anyway. For instance try to find an original Neo Geo (a console I remember from my childhood). They exist, but be prepared to spend a lot of money. The price will only go up over time as more of them die, until eventually there are none left.

They could sell 1942/2/2142 while having the community pay for server but no. I assume the smart people at EA came to the conclusion it's more profitable to force more people to adopt games filled with MTXes than sell old ones, sadly they're probably right. If they don't reverse this I hope they at least put on a final sale as they have done before.

Well, I'd say that there is a chance that after they remove them, community will start working on servers and things like that. This happens with many older games. Sad that not all games get this attention though.

That's cool and all but if it's impossible to buy? Like BF2 Community Server I heard still needs a unique key, good luck with that.

Hm... I don't know. Last time I search about BF2 there was a standalone mod.
But I may be wrong.
Don't feed the troll, guys. Ignore it and hopefully it will go away.

Ice_Mage: What online services? Mirror's Edge doesn't seem to have an online component here on GOG. I can't find any trace of it on Steam either, but I find their site difficult to navigate.
avatar
action_fan: Probably EA just forgot that GOG version doesn't have it unlike other stores, so there is no reason to remove it from here.
It'd be funny and sad at the same time if EA forgot that GOG even exists, which I doubt.

Well, almost every big company is based on bureaucracy and its top managers (and other decision-makers) may forget or don't even know about details out of their immediate area of responsibility. Especially if we take into account that EA didn't release any its game here for many years. And this press release with added and subsequently removed Mirror's Edge shows this really well.

Some of EA's employees definitely have. Last year there was a scandal where an EA employee publicly stated on their forums that GOG is not an authorized partner to sell EA games; thus EA was implying that GOG was illegally selling pirated copies of EA games.

They eventually retracted their statement, but the fact that it happened in the first place shows they really don't care about GOG at all.
