Following Armello's controversy on GOG recently I thought it was interesting to show the link for Jim Sterling's views on the new Deus Ex gameplay choices. Interesting how greed and stupidity are slowly ruining videogames.

Good things that not every developer chooses this path.
Yes and we, as a community, must support devs who do not adopt these shady practics.

edit: ok watched the video, glad i didnt buy anything from sqare enix, thats just garbage.
And game tracking everything you do is f-ing horrible too, the only thing it is done for - is to try to "maximize" their micro transaction profits - basically they try to understand where is better to put them.

Let me get this straight: apart from stuff like weapons and skins available through micro transactions for the new deus ex single player campaign, which is bad enough, there are also micro transactions for consumables in the campaign? Like combat packs and stuff? That's sickening.

yes. majority (if not everything -I didn't play it myself) of purchases - and even pre-order bonuses are single use only - for one playthrough. thats. just. amazing how greedy thit guys are
Vote for my wishlist.

www.gog.com/wishlist/site/do_not_ever_allow_microtransactions_and_video_games_with_in_game_stores_to_be_sold_o n_gogcom

It has 41 votes so far.

Lets get it to 100,000 votes by 2018 or even push it to 1,000,000 votes.

We need to tell gog.com to not allow microtransactions for retail priced video games to be sold, to not allow in video game stores to be in the video games, and to now allow Free to Play (F2P) video games on gog.com at all.

What pisses me off about that is that the gameplay will have to be balanced so that those purchases are not frivolous.

It isn't really, the campaign is balanced as if they don't exist. It would be if they changed the balance of the Campaign to force them or they were the only way to get the best items (Pay to win.). I don't think skins are part of them but I'm not sure.

according to the video particulary this game wasnt balanced that way (no time lol) but they did add spy feature to study well - where to put them in future to maximize sales

You have already failed. Gwent (Made by CDPR themselves.) will be F2P and on GOG. I assume it will have microtransactions as well, otherwise CDPR can't make money.

I did not fail.

CD Projekt RED started do this, so I made a wishlist and now I hope the community votes.

This wishlist of mine to not allow microtransactions to be sold on gog.com I'm going to hope it hits 1,000,000 votes.

What I'm saying is that you won't force CDPR to cancel Gwent, a game CDPR have invested time and money into. This wishlist entry will also not get 1 million votes when the most voted entries only have around 30,000 votes.

Oh no I'm not forcing CD Projekt RED to cancel GWENT.

All I'm asking is to keep microtransactions off from being sold on gog.com and Free to Play (F2P) video games as well to not be on gog.com.

CD Projekt RED can just keep GWENT outside of gog.com.

They had a The Witcher MOBA video game which was Free to Play (F2P) and has microtransactions, but is not on gog.com.

No they can't. The entire backend is powered by GOG/Galaxy.

It was a mobile game... do I really have to explain why it's not on GOG?

I still don't think that they would take Gwent off GOG. I think part of the point of them making the game in the first place is to demonstrate the multiplayer capabilities of Galaxy.

Arguing with him is rather pointless honestly... he is a bit delusional about this whole thing.
