To celebrate the anniversary of METRO: Last Light original launch, we’ve partnered up with 4A Games to bring the original versions of METRO 2033 and METRO: Last Light Complete Edition to GOG, as part of the GOG Preservation Program – ensuring these beloved classics remain accessible and fully playable for years to come.

From the haunting isolation of METRO 2033 (-70%) to the desperate conflict and survival of METRO: Last Light Complete Edition (-70%), these adventures helped shape one of gaming’s most immersive post-apocalyptic universes. Now, both experiences are once again available for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

To mark the release, all METRO franchise titles available on GOG are now discounted until May 27th, 7AM UTC!

What a great day for game preservation!
Fabulous, this is what we want for our money!
Is GOG the only store selling the original versions now?

CelestialBunny: Original Final Fantasy 8 is next right?
That'd be cool (FF8: 1998 version).

Can we also get FF8 (2013 re-release) too on here?
Nice! I just got the entire collection pack.
Thanks for bringing it back for PC. It will be fun to play.

sharktejo: Metro 2033 also as issues, it freezes randomly while playing and the screen becomes black, only way is to kill the windows process for the game, i tried lowering the settings but it does the same thing, also i had the issue after installing that the game refused to start until i installed manualy the physx setup and the dxsetup.
It seems to have issues because of the legacy use of physx, can't you disable those features in the optimized settings?
Nevermind. I just submitted a ticket about it

As far as I know - yes. You can still play originals on Steam but only if you bought them before they were delisted.
Absolutely awesome news :) A big thank you to GOG and 4A Games. I am really glad that we have the originals here DRM-free for anybody that missed them on the vapor store. Keep up the good work. Cheers

Unless you lose access to your account, then it could be gone forever as "re-buying" them is not possible at that point; no money could solve it...

Of course for my delisted GOG version it is different as i got my Installer backed up.

MysterD: The thing w/ Achievements for me is: they should be built into the game itself for offline play and offline profiles. GOG, Steam, Games For Windows Live, PSN, XB Live - those Achievement systems won't be online forever sadly.

And of course, if offline - I should have an option to Reset the offline Achievements popped or not...b/c sure, why not?

AdastAdamov: Actually there are options when you use Steam emulators - achievements can be unlocked offline. Though you would have to use Achievement Watcher (or other tool) to see them.

And there is also a tool that allows to unlock/lock achievements online on Steam, which is needed if you want to reset them and try 100% game again.
Helpful answers, thanks! And, hey, since you seem a bit knowledgable about Achievements, you wouldn't know if there's a way to transfer Steam's to Gog's, over a single identical game of course, would you ?
I finished Metro 2033 at 100% through Steam, years ago, and was wondering if that record could be imported...
Redux should include the og version. It's their doing for not providing it automatically, when they launched redux. The least they can do now is give it for free or at a discount, if you own the redux.
Looking at the reviews for Metro 2033 OG, there seems to be general issues with crashing, will there be any patches to try and fix it?

Don't feel too confident to buy a game that might be unplayable, even for this price.

The problem I encountered was that the game would freeze after a brief period of play. I disabled V-Sync, which allowed me to progress past the first level without experiencing a freeze. I plan to play the game more this today to determine if this resolves the issue.

One things I found online was to Disable VSync: Sometimes changing r_vsync on to r_vsync off in the user.cfg file improves stability. Vsync is on by default.

This is amazing. So far, GOG has taken several strides in the right direction this year. I hope they'll keep up this momentum.

Good to know, hopefully this will do. I've also seen PhysX being a possible culprit.

I hope and will report back when I can.
