To celebrate the anniversary of METRO: Last Light original launch, we’ve partnered up with 4A Games to bring the original versions of METRO 2033 and METRO: Last Light Complete Edition to GOG, as part of the GOG Preservation Program – ensuring these beloved classics remain accessible and fully playable for years to come.

From the haunting isolation of METRO 2033 (-70%) to the desperate conflict and survival of METRO: Last Light Complete Edition (-70%), these adventures helped shape one of gaming’s most immersive post-apocalyptic universes. Now, both experiences are once again available for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

To mark the release, all METRO franchise titles available on GOG are now discounted until May 27th, 7AM UTC!

What a great day for game preservation!
Nice to see the originals preserved, especially true for 2033! Thanks GOG and Deep Silver, hope to see more!

Martinx92: As a side-note - Metro 2033 is for me an example of being a victim of digital rot, as the Steam version I played back then had achievements and when I was checking the library entry a few months back of the OG - I couldn't find any information about any achievements. As it they disappeared. That was a strange discovery and got me thinking about how time-proof these types of functions are, even on the same platform that still exists x years later.

Spectrum_Legacy: I've just checked the steam version of the original Metro 2033 and it does still have achievements (showing 0/48 for me). These things are kept as they are, or at least I don't remember any case where they would be removed after delisting. You might not see them in offline mode though. I don't remember how they are cached in the client, or for how long that is.
Funny thing about it is - I checked it in online mode before and I didn't see them there. Thought this was a delisting problem, but since You didn't have this problem... it's a bit of a mystery. This was the only game that had this issue in my account, too.

Edit - well, I've just entered into my Steam account after months of inactivity and the achievements are here now :D I guess the last time was a temporary bug. At least it was some food for thought ;)

Should the original version of Hard Reset show up?

tfishell: Should the original version of Hard Reset show up?
Oh, this would be absolutely great. Played the OG on Steam many times, never bothered with the remaster as it looked to me like Hard Reset with Shadow Warrior katana/dash mod over it. IMO old Hard Reset is well balanced and the Shadow Warrior reboot elements clashed with the original gameplay too much for me to stomach.
So +1 for that proposition.
Just bougth the two of them. The performance of Last LIght is godafwul. Starts out with 90 FPS that feel like 30 and then gets worse. Especially after cutscenes the performens seem to be hampered.

All the best

Do you have GeForce 5000 series and enabled PhysX by any chance?
Nvidia dropped support of the 32-bit version.

Hey! Thank you for the reply. I could not even open a ticke as the OG Version seems not ot be in tht database yet. About the performance: I got an AMD card, but It seems to have to do with the cutscenes for me... As soon as I got out to the open it got ay better. The transition from gameplay in the stations to the cutscenes an back to the gameplay killed perfomance...

All the best.

You're not keeping up. https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/gpu-drivers/nvidia-reinstates-32-bit-physx-support-for-rtx-50-series-as-part-of-its-latest-game-ready-driver-rollout-9-titles-included-in-initial-release
Metro 2033 also as issues, it freezes randomly while playing and the screen becomes black, only way is to kill the windows process for the game, i tried lowering the settings but it does the same thing, also i had the issue after installing that the game refused to start until i installed manualy the physx setup and the dxsetup.
It seems to have issues because of the legacy use of physx, can't you disable those features in the optimized settings?

tfishell: Should the original version of Hard Reset show up?
Definitely. Hard Reset - Extended Edition is another prime candidate. I have boxes of both the original, non-Redux version (Steam) and the Extended Edition. The latter installs fully through disc (box in screens), but to launch, requires the idiotic Kalypso Launcher. Nothing a good old crack won't fix to make it essentially DRM-free of course, which I have at the ready, but for getting rid of that officially through GOG, I would be willing to pay again.

Very true. The most helpful review we currently have for Redux on GOG sums it up pretty much perfectly. It killed the original's identity.

Wish, one day, I get as metro as you.

Yes, and Sniper Elite 2. Which steam and ZP have right now.
I have the two redux versions, what would these versions get me compared to those?

You really only need Metro 2033 because from what I looked up, the redux of Last Light is an improvement.

This might help you decide.

CelestialBunny: Original Final Fantasy 8 is next right?
At nearly 36k votes, I certainly hope it comes in the not-too-far future.
