Does WC go on sale a lot?

gogdb.org keeps track and yes, but only the 50% off sale. The 75% off sale is seldom, which I am now myself hunting down. Used to own all of them, even the DVD version of WCIV and Kilrathi Saga. Was burglarized end of 2021.... So getting them on GOG. Just discovered gamesieve.com which seems to be a price tracker for GoG and not sure might have alerts when sales happen (wishlist etc, but not sure as just discovered and haven't made an account yet to track).

Looks like they're lost in unreleased limbo until someone there notices.

Just a random thought I had over the weekend:
Did we start using the 4th of May as Star Wars day simply because 4th sounds similar to "force"? So "May the force?"

If so, that's a pretty idiotic reason to not use the actually important day that is May 25th.

Viral hooks outweigh historical dates. Try changing Pi Day from 3/14 to the actual date pi was discovered. You'll need the Force itself to shift it!

Next year will be the grand 50th Anniversary btw.

Let's be real...

No use beating a dead.... dog?

It's a pop masterpiece. Let's take it and...enshrine it. Is there real need for new canon material? Unless some really new ideas are to be added. But then why not a new, even somewhat similar franchise? Just for the name? But the name holds if you keep with high expectations, which is hard.

(To those who state that sequels don't belong and/or prequels don't, I'm quite sure that fourth episode was written as part of a saga but then the movie was filmed as self-contained, so a true purist could argue that the "real only" Star Wars could be just A New Hope and the partially open ending is director's choice)

I'd like nothing more. I've long since completely detached from anything Star Wars related. But I will keep enjoying the old stuff and don't care at all how deep down the drain it decides to swirl.

Considering the director was the writer, I'm not sure about that.

Oh, here I go again. That's the old "the real work is what author decides/what it is in fictional objectivity" VS "the real work is what one sees in it provided is just a plausible interpretation" vs "the real work is the version of the work most fans love the most". As old as time and writing. I have the impression many old fans as single viewers (personal tastes) and a good chunk of fandom (as a collective reception of the work) slighty or strongly disagrees with some of the later choices by the author, even if we're limiting to the last works when the writer was still Lucas.
Phantom Manace was booed back then, Attack of the Clones was more or less dubbed a planetary romance, etc.
Everybody pretended not having ever seen the Holiday Special (which is a bit of a joke, so it's harmless, at least).

In literature, at least in Italy, there are ancient examples of boh this and the opposite: the first (hence the original) edition of some works survived and can be read, but, at the time, the author went great length to modify them and/or substitute them with radically different new editions (with a different title, even) while discouraging the public to read the older, disowning them and making public amends. In those cases (two namely being The Betrothed and Jerusalem Delivered) we have opposite possible reactions. The newer one or the older one both can prevail depending on various factors (the fact that the author of Jerusalem Delivered released a new "correct" version while deemed "too religiosly strict" - that is nearly out of his mind- by the Inquisition itself...didn't help)
