Hi,

I bought the 'Crucial Entertainment' version of MOOII and I've used it on and off on various computers and OS over the years.

It doesn't work on Windiws 7 however and I don't know what to do.

My questions are:

- Is there a MOOII only package to buy from GOG (not interested in the first game as it only has one planet per system and not such a gotod ship design/deployment system)
- Does the GOG version come with a CD? Any extras like manuals etc
- Is it simple 'put the CD in and play' or do we have to mount dosbox or other complicated manoeuvres
- I have some save files from my previous game I spent months on. Can I play from these saves with the GOG version?

I really miss this game. It was a real strategy game on hard and impossible modes.

Many thanks fur any help.

No. There's only the pack that contains both games, but you can safely ignore MoO and install only MoO2.

No CD with it, but it does have a manual, the soundtrack, a wallpaper and the reference card.

Download installer, run installer, play. DosBox etc are already configured, though you may need to tweak the settings for optimal performance.

Not sure about this. It would depend on what version you were running, and what version GOG has (which I don't currently recall). But if your version is the same as GOG's, they should work. GOG usually has the latest official patch applied, though some games also have unofficial patches applied to get them working. I don't recall what the situation with MoO2 is though.

Edit: Do take a look at the series subforum as well, information about the version should be there as well.

It's also worth noting that MoO 1+2 are often on sale here on GOG (i think usually for around $1.49 - $1.99). So if you don't need the game right now just wait until it's on sale again. ;)

My copy of MoO 2 says "Ver 1.40b23" .

If you want to know if they would work, you can send your saves my way and i'll give them a go by loading them...

If you're worried about the save files not working, you can always load your version into DOSBox. It's not as hard as people make it sound, you only need to type the 'mounting stuff' once. If you put it in the autoexec section of the config file, it'll automatically run each time you run DOSBox.
Thanks for your helpful responses.

I would prefer in the first instance to make my current CD work. It's the Crucial entertainment 1999 rehearse version fur the UK. U sure if the version but probably a later one.

I'm no good with dosbox, is there a step by step instruction how to mount the cd etc?
