[This is a sticky post, it will be visible in every single page of this thread. It has been published in October 2020.]

Our moderation team decided not to take a side in the discussion since this giveaway thread was created by the community and, as long as there are no forum rules violated, is up to you, dear Gogers, to decide its fate. We will not set giveaway rules, edit the OP's post, nor lock the whole thread.

However, to make it easier for newcomers to understand the situation (about the OP being inactive and other), I will stick my own post right above the first one.

You are, of course, free to create new threads to start anew and make your own, clear rules. At the same time, please stay reasonable when crating them, as multiple new duplicates might make it even more confusing for many Gogers.

That being said, here you can find a post with dxenija's community poll to have better understanding of the situation: CLICK.

At the time of writing, open giveaway threads are:
- Massive Giveaways Blog (this one)
- Free (temporary) keys giveaway central topic.
- Updated Itch.io giveaways

Be nice to each other *flies away*

Melvinica: Yes they did, at least once, in a sale.

gogtrial34987: That is correct. Summer sale 2017 was the one I immediately found details of:
Rebel Galaxy as a freebie after the first purchase, and Alan Wake's Nightmare after spending $10.
Halloween sale 2017 apparently had Tales from the Borderlands on spending $15.

There was at least one more sale around the same time period (halloween / winter 2016 maybe?), and I think even two, which did a more gamified version of the same. I remember a "monster" themed one, and one (possibly the same) where it was all about collecting "XP" (100 XP per dollar spent, iirc, plus XP for visiting every day and clicking a tweet button and such), calculated such that you could get one freebie without spending any money, and up to three (?) if you spent up to $20 or thereabouts. There even was a leaderboard of who had collected the most "XP".

As interesting as this discussion was, wasn't this thread
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/a_place_to_discuss_giveaways_epic_steam_ubisoft_and_all
created specifically to avoid cluttering the giveaway threads with discussions and giving people false alerts??

Purrfect! After installation, Rustler (Grand Theft Horse) is DRM-free!
The game can run without the client active and no workaround needed.
Launch the exe file directly without resource hogging DRMs!

Finally GTA is DRM-free...I mean its indie GTA clone is without extra fuss!
GTA is one of the best game genres there is and it's free and DRM free, what is there not to like? Meowtastic!

As a bonus, you get tons of memes and cultural references in-game too!
