Bolch76: Thanks for all the great stories and suggestions, just keep them coming! :)

By the way, I'm a little puzzled by the relative lack of interest. Though I haven't played it yet, but Mark of the Ninja looks like a funny game to me... and it's the Special Edition, too. Perhaps it was/is featured as a free game somewhere?

Back to the topic: the C64 game Bruce Lee also featured a ninja as a somewhat comical enemy; he constantly followed, poked and harassed the player but didn't do any actual damage (though it COULD kill the player by shoving it into a pit or deathtrap).
Massively great game to giveaway and great thread. I've decide it can't be anywhere near as ninja awesome as Ninja Gaiden 2, so it's gone somewhat down my wishlist. And it's 2gb, it would actually cost me $40 to download. -.-

Otherwise I'd be in in a flash.

Also grew up with American Ninja. +1

I'd recommend the movie 13 Assassins, more Samurai's than Ninja, but pretty close.

Can we extend a little bit the topic to martial arts as a whole? Can someone recommend me a good MA movies, anime or even manga, because I only remember Bruce Lee movies and may be 2 anime/manga - Kenichi and Tenjou Tenge and I know for sure in Kenichi there was a ninja/ninjitsu arc. Aw exclude Mortal Kombat as well, know that too, but if you've not watched I highly recommend the series Mortal Kombat Conquest , too bad though they cancelled it prematurely - some says it has a very solid end :D, but for some is a cliff hanger...

Basilisk (both movie and anime), Ninja Scroll and Azumi (movies and manga)

While strictly speaking it is a mix of magic and martial arts one of the best shows (many people would even say the best show) in that category would be Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Last day for new entries.

This giveaway will end in appr. 10 hours.
Not in, but I just mentioned Shinobi in the MAME thread, so I'll mention it here too.

Probably my favorite childhood ninja memories - great levels, bosses, plus the shooting star bonus level. Super awesome.
OK, the submission period has ended and I've randomly chosen the winner from the six participants.

And the lucky one is...

kmonster !

Thanks to everyone for the shared memories and movie/anime/game suggestions!

I'm planning to host further thematic/nostalgic giveaways in the future (perhaps catering to a somewhat wider audience :) ).
Congratulations kmonster ! Thanks for the nice giveaway Bolch76!
Not in, but I absolutely have to mention The Last Ninja. Loved the game on my C64 and the soundtrack is one of the best ever made on that computer.

Edit: Didn't see that the giveaway is already over.

I'm SO glad that there's someone else who remembers The Last Ninja! And the music! ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_miL3Kd6E6w )

Though I admit that I liked "The Last Ninja 2" even better, I recorded every music from it on an audio tape back in the old times... :) The music of Central Park.. or the Office... or the Mansion... (sigh)
Thanks and congrats to the winner!
