The game was ported to Mac by a studio known as Transgaming and they put in an always online DRM which required the game to chime in and verify itself with their servers every time it was launched. The studio was recently shut down and their servers were taken offline, leaving the game unplayable as the DRM couldn't find the server it was supposed to connect to. Bet those who paid for this fell like real suckers now. BTW, the game's publisher is Konami, not that it matters.

Posting it here kind of seems like preaching to the choir, but it's always nice to have another example to point to when someone tries to use one of those "it only affects pirates" arguments.
