It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Summary: MacOS will be switching entirely to 64-bit and will no longer support 32-bit. Therefore, all 32-bit windows games will no longer be playable with WINE. This will probably be coming by 10.14 if not sooner.

In addition, I believe Boxer (which runs DOS games) will no longer run because the underlying DOSBox is not 64-bit. I assume this would also apply to many native mac games too. EDIT/UPDATE: A 64-bit Boxer should be entirely possible, so DOS games will likely still be able to be played.

Therefore GOG will no longer be able to support any newer MacOS at all for all games which are not 64-bit.

It looks to me like the only solutions are to not upgrade to a new MacOS, or bootcamp.

I don't know about all this technical stuff, I'm just going by what I'm reading, but it looks like retro gaming on a Mac will be totally lost :'(.

Why doesn't the browser respond to right-clicking on that page?

A 64-bit version of DOSBox should be able to run DOS games.

For anything else, if you don't want Windows, you can dual-boot with Linux and run 32-bit games under WINE there.
I'm no technical wiz, so this'll potentially be a huge downer. On the brighter side, I've suspected for a long time that I'd eventually need to invest in a gaming PC anyway. It is what it is.

According the article I linked, at least with WINE, even a 64-bit emulator will still only be able to run 64-bit games, 32-bit games on a 64-bit emulator will still not work. I don't know whether similar reasoning will apply to emulated DOS games (which I believe are 16-bit?) if a 64-bit Boxer emulator appears.

DOSBox is an emulator, and could run 16/32 bit codes.
Wine is not an emulator, just a compatible API translation layer.

It's even in the name:

Wine
Is
Not an
Emulator

But yes, Dosbox should continue to function. It emulates the old DOS anyhow, independent of the architecture it runs on.

I did not know that, thanks :)!

So does anyone know if there is currently a 64-bit DOSBox, or if one is being worked on? (That would be the first step towards a 64-bit Boxer app to run DOS games).

On my Linux system:
$ file /usr/bin/dosbox
/usr/bin/dosbox: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (GNU/Linux), dynamically linked, interpreter /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2, for GNU/Linux 2.6.32, BuildID[sha1]=6be2ead474b44f7304c445e9c4b9dbee735c56e9, stripped

Yep, this is a 64-bit executable, so a 64 bit Linux build evidently exists. It runs older games just fine.

There's no reason that a 64 bit Mac OS build would be any different.

Also, here's a page on compiling 64-bit DOSBox for Mac OS:
https://hexeract.wordpress.com/2016/09/10/building-dosbox-as-x64-binary-for-macos-sierra/

Expect to see Boxer ported to 64-bit once Mac OS can no longer run 32-bit programs.

Left click is disabled as well. You can't highlight the text.

The blogger is probably worried that someone will steal their text for their own website.

edit: And it appears to carry along with you. I can't right click on any website now. Lovely.

Try Firefox with NoScript. Can confirm that right-click works for me and doesn't carry to any new pages.

That's actually what I have here although it's an older version of Firefox. They keep removing accessibility options from their config.

A reboot fixed the issue though.

May even be the mouse. I exchange them out every few months.

Thank you though for the reply and your time.

No problem. Just for your info, I'm using version 56.0.2 (64 bit) of Firefox. I think that's the latest release, but not 100% sure.

Yeah, which completely interferes with how I like to read stuff.
