hi,

could someone tell me if there is any difference between the CD and floppy versions of Lord of the Realm 1.

i purchased the royal edition in the summer sale and gog galaxy will allow me to install the floppy version but when it comes to the cd edition it tells me its not available for windows?

i have already done a ticket to gog but no reply.

could anyone please advise me?

thanks,

It, along with some other games, is not currently supported by Galaxy as of yet. You can instead try to install it manually.
Grargar is correct, but just to add:

It's worth posting threads like these in the game specific forums, you're more likely to get relevant answers. Also you won't get people hijacking your thread with quotes and other banter.

In his defense, subforums are not automatically added anymore and unbundled games don't have a direct link to the forums from the library.

many thanks for all the info.

i have not posted in a while as i normally stick to topics already started so was not entirely sure where to post the question hence the general discussion.

i will look for the games section next time thank you..

There was no criticism intended. You are posting about one of the best games ever made, this elevates you, in my opinion, above the majority of the GOG forum.

I was just suggesting that you might want to join us in the game specific subsection.

The CD contains digitized speech and a second map of Germany, a different intro. + few other minor changes. Check this:

That said, I found the DOSBox version a bit more stable. The CD version had a small problem with cursor movement, that I managed to solve:
http://www.gog.com/forum/lords_of_the_realm_lords_of_magic_series/erratic_cursor_movement_cd_version_of_lotr_1
In addition to that, on the Germany map, some texts are still hardcoded to appear as if you're playing England (like the Merchant screen telling you "there are n merchants in England and Wales"), nothing major though, and battle music missing.
