Twitch/Youtubers are a huge whale community funded by their fanbase. They tend to spend a lot of it on stuff like this.
Not in the gameplay itself from what I can tell so far, the story hinted at it here and there.

For me I feel like I should play a game because and how I want. Often daily quests are nothing but menial tasks that developers push at players in an attempt to get players hooked on the 'daily tasklist'. It has nothing to do with adding meaningful gameplay, it's only purpose is to increase retention and to keep the game in a player's head. I honestly think it has no place in a singleplayer game and while I can understand their inclusion in an MMO or other multiplayergame retention is useless for a singleplayer game (and should be). But ofcourse there is a catch here, the daily quests are not here just 'because', they are here because Assassin's creed is also getting some method of spending additional cash on meaningless things.

People buy cosmetic items for hundreds of bucks, hell theres a fucking in-game bandana that is sold at the Steam market for almost 1000 bucks, the sad part is people are actually buying it.

Apparently you also only get drops if drop 250 bits, yet that page shows them offering deal for 350, so you're screwed over more so.
tbh though, I avoid twitch as much as possible since they changed to HTML5 only, even then I'm not dumb enough to do the whole Bits crap lol.

Can't say their drm free versions in here aren't great, I mean, they (Evil A-holes for instance) own several amazing IPs that got *ahem* curated by GOG, for instance, long ago when some of these dudes weren't into this superficial way of thinking and doing this to others. But but but their new games? Milking kids? Architecting a game so it's evil?! Beyond my wildest dreams. Much like some said in the first page I also don't care about this, man, I get a game, play it (most of the time I give it a go some weeks later but that's a sign of the times, heh) but I know one thing: it's targeted towards kids. I have kids, they're young now but they'll grow up eventually....
This getting into pc and console gaming it's a mess, WAAAAAAAAY worse than any fad such as, uh, Digimon collectibles and such where you have to phisically acquire something. There's no limit there.

MAN it's beyond Konami packinko crap, it's like going to the movies and suddenly the screen stops and demands your CC number. This buttfucks my brain and hurts my soul; I fear for the youngest... it's horrendous and yes, fathers out there, it's somehow beyond your control and things may get worse.

Dauntless F2P game had loot boxes, they've been removed.
Kind of surprising. Doesn't mean they can't be added again later down the road.
They've swapped to the "If there's something you want, you can buy it instead of loot chests" so no gamble involved :D
