tinyE: Obligatory mention of STARS!

The exclamation point is essential. It's the only way to differentiate it with a search engine.

Dalswyn: Well, wouldn't it be better to get it and its expansions drm-free directly from the publisher? ;)

Yes, being Matrix Games, it's bloody expensive. That said, they have weekly sales on individual titles and a Christmas sale that covers most of their catalogue, so I suggest you check up their website regularly. ;)

Cyraxpt: Lol, not used to publishers selling their own games on their website but to be honest i'm just curious with Distant Worlds, i would be more interested in CC Gateway to Caen but i'm assuming their promotions are the same as Steam so... eh... no.
Probably the content and quality are good to warrant the price but i'm not paying those prices considering that i can get other good games cheaper and way more recent....
I thought they will give you a steam key even thought you buy from their site?
So you have the choice to download directly from their site or organize your gaming library at one place.

I'm still waiting for my Father's Day copy of Stars! Supernova Genesis :)

In these days of kickstarts and indiegogo's, it may have had a chance. But.. oh well..

I've never even heard of that. That link says it was never released.

Exactly :) That's why I'm still waiting for it..

Okay, I'll explain - When it was in development, I signed up on the mailing list for it (announcements, etc.). It was getting close to beta or something when they dropped it. But I'd already asked for it as a Father's Day gift. So, it's a Father's Day gift I am still waiting for (but will never receive). :)

Dunno and i wasn't talking about steam keys, i was talking about the steam price and the discounts that the game usually has (actual price = 36.99€, lowest price = 32.18€), considering that the game is 39.99€ + tax on their website i can imagine that their discount won't be far from the usual on steam.

Indeed, you get both the drm-free download and the steam key.

Bouchart: Maybe you'd like Aurora 4x.

It's free, but it plays like MS Access in Space.
Cool I'll give this a look. Quick question, how come i dont get notifications when people reply to this thread? I thought it was dead and just looked at it for the heck of it but there are new replies here.
I think this has some of what you're looking for.

Not exactly what you're looking for in all departments, but maybe look at AI War.
